Product Description

From the USA Today bestselling author of Sara's Game comes a powerful exploration of the gray lines dividing good and evil.

***

When Jay Cross heals a paralyzed man just by shaking his hand, and is able to do it again and again, his quiet, cozy little world is on the verge of shattering.  The one thing that would make it all worth it, the one thing that would make him embrace his abilities, won't work, no matter how hard he tries.

At the same time, only a few miles away, David Kreutzer wipes his hand across his wife's forehead and cures her failing eyesight.  He, too, is able to repeat these healing miracles, and in doing so, he sees the bright glow of dollar signs.  Millions of them.

Where did this ability come from?  Why were they chosen?

And who is the mysterious stranger lurking in the shadows, waiting for his chance to destroy them both?

3.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great... until you hit a brick wall Jan. 15 2012

I'm a Christian who doesn't read much Christian lit. It is usually trite, overwrought, predictable, and preachy. This is none of those. It discusses God and miracles without any of the need to smack you over the head. The characters were real, intricate, and well written. The author knew these people. They had their own views and perceptions. They were written with insight and subtlety. I cared for all of them, even the secondary characters. Too much of modern fiction is story driven so that the people that populate them are ever changing to fit the plot. This was character driven. The story went where the characters did. Don't get me wrong, it's not slow or a character study, it is full of happenings, all of which made sense because the characters made sense. I enjoyed the three different responses to healing miracles. I liked that two were slight variations with the third as a total contrast. I liked the exploration of faith. I liked the exploration of the purpose of miracles. Is it the physical healing that is important? Or the faith of the healer and the healed? Perhaps it is the bestowing of gifts by a benevolent God, a kind of reward? All thought provoking questions.

Then I got to the last chapter. Suddenly, the characters weren't remaining faithful to who they were. They suddenly and without much explanation and no hints, were totally different people. They didn't grow and change with or in response to events. They just did a 180 and went the other way. And I felt like I'd been punched. I had been really interested to see how these three people would effect each other. I wanted to explore what happens when three differing beliefs come into contact. It would have been interesting to see how the lives of the three could be healed by each other. Not in a flash by the laying on of hands, but as a response to extraordinary situations. But it needed to grow organically. Instead we are given the briefest of glimpses at their now mingled lives all tied up in a nice bow. It didn't make sense and it was very disappointing. If I had not read that last chapter, this would be a five star review, even though I wouldn't have a resolution (which might have been interesting). I understand why the author felt he needed a resolution, but it's as if he got lost. He just didn't know what kind of resolution, so he gave us a campfire song. Even with waiting a couple weeks after finishing the book to review, I still find myself disappointed. I can't say I don't recommend this book, it has a lot going for it, but I just wish it didn't have that last chapter. I hope the author someday revises this so that the characters stay true to who they are, but until then 3 stars is the most I can do.

4.0 out of 5 stars A book worth reading! Feb. 1 2012
By Mr. RAD - Published on Amazon.com

I must say, I'm impressed with this book. The author's style is far from boring, the pacing is just right and the story won't allow you to put it down. You've got two men who possess the same ability that can't be explained. One chooses to go public with his power while the other keeps a low profile. Both suffer terrible heartache as a result of it. Each man has a negative opinion of the other, and little does one of them know that a religious nut is out to get him.

Read this book, and you'll ask yourself what you'd do if you were in either man's shoes.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE TWO CROSSES: A NOVEL March 12 2012
By Book Diva - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a good book, however, I was a bit surprised with some of the "language" used in a "Christian book." It was very realistic and fast-paced. I read it very quickly and it kept my interest all the way. There was not a lot of excess or fluff with this book. The book was to the point with all details, and did not keep you wondering what the author meant. Sadly, each character in this book had their own personal unfair losses, because they gave so much to others. Definitely worth reading.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginning March 10 2012
By Mel Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed reading this book, up until the very last chapter. It almost seemed like the author got tired of writing and just wanted a quick ending. It didn't flow with the rest of the book. I was very disappointed.

When two different men, living very different lives, both suddenly acquire the ability to heal people it's interesting to see how each man handles the situation. It makes you think. How would you react? Which path would you take? Would you remain humble, and heal out of compassion for your fellow man, or would you tell the world, and heal for profit? It was enjoyable to see both sides of the dilemma.

I really did enjoy reading this book. The characters were great. I felt like each one was well written. But, like I said, the ending left me very dissatisfied.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed reading this book, until..... April 26 2012

....the end!

This is the first time I've written a review on here about a book but I literally just finished the last page and felt the need!!

ARGH!! I really enjoyed this book - it was a very good read. I was bawling at one point (didn't like that part at ALL) and I didn't like the changing of the tense in which the writer wrote based on the character - but the storyline was so good.

But when I got to the last page (didn't know at the time it was the last page) and anxiously turned to see what happened and found "The End" - I couldn't believe it.

Because of that, I only gave it three stars. It most definitely had the makings for 5 stars but your ending blew it for me.
