I never considered myself a Don Henley fan. I've loved and respected all the hit songs by the Eagles as a band, but solo efforts (other than a few by Joe Walsh) always seemed "too pop" or "too commercial" for my tastes. I decided to buy this CD because it was rather inexpensive and it would add missing hits to my CD collection.
However, when I played the CD, I quickly realized that I no longer agree with my younger opinions of Henley's solo music. Simply put, Henley's music is top notch.
He took a long time between albums, and really only has a few solo albums. It was never about quantity, it's about quality. The writing, performing and recording are from an artist who delivers only the best of himself. The songs are strong and they make their point with powerful and concise lyrics that always reach "the heart of the matter".
It IS indeed mainstream sounding music (a sound he helped create with the Eagles!), but the songs are also mature. This was lost on a younger me, but I can appreciate it now. Henley was never about being different or being noticed (hence his lack of videos in an era when that could make or break the careers of any upcoming artist), it was simply about being good. The music speaks for itself.
I think all his hits are here, the sound is great and consistent, and the price is right. I play this CD more often than I play either of my Eagles hits CD's. Highly recommended.

I bought this CD mainly for "Boys of Summer", but was pleasantly surprised at how many of Don Henley's songs I really enjoy. Have played it quite a few times in my car since receiving it. I would highly recommend it.

Now Worth the $5
This is a piece of junk. Maybe if it was reduced to about 5 songs and made into and EP, it would be OK.

Very Best of Don Henley
I love this CD. There is no better voice in the music business presently. The lyrics to his songs are so insightful. There isn't one song in this CD that I don't like.
