Can't put it down!,
By
This review is from: The Walking Dead Book 3 (Hardcover)
After just finishing The Walking Dead book 2, I picked up The Walking Dead book 3 and couldn't put it down once again - pretty much finishing it off in one sitting. It's not that short, it's just that good!Playing off of Book 2, where the theme was more man Vs. man over man Vs. zombie, Book 3 continues that trend introducing even more new characters into the mess that add a whole new level of complication to the lives of the characters we've come to know by this point. There's also a lot more zombie action, though it continues to be more of a background issue behind the character driven story. As I've said in my other reviews, and I don't see this changing with Book 4 coming next, getting this series is a must for fans of great reads. Kirkman knows how to build characters and various twists, and the art continues to pull it all together well.

Epic journey continues,

This review is from: The Walking Dead Book 3 (Hardcover)
I have recently been catching up on my 'zombie lit' and I heard about The Walking Dead graphic novels. I picked up the first two volumes and was blowin away. This series has all the classic zombie/post apocalyptic elements you would expect in an end-of-the-world type of story. The story continues to follow Rick Grimes and his band of weary travelers as they try to survive in a world over run with zombies. I find the characters quite compelling , they are all shown to be fallible human beings just trying to survive. While some characters stand out as more capable then the others, there are no everyman turned superhero types that can sometimes crop up in this genre. Volume one and two did a great job of introducing us to the main cast and established the feel and tone of the world they are now living in. This volume introduces us to another group of survivors which adds a great new dynamic to the story. I also like how the whole thing is written and illustrated in black and white, I feel it really suits the story. I hope this review helps, Andrew
