I'll get right to it...Loved the tv show, needed more. Bought the Compendium due to its affordable price (compared to the issues, omnibus', and books). I then, once again, needed more. So I purchased books 5, 6 and 7. I am all caught up now, still wanting more. The compendium is a great price for what you get in return, but if you like to keep or collect these types of books, then you might want to buy the individual books. They look nice on the shelf and they are well priced here compared to the stores.

FYI: this compendium is like buying books 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I had already been a fan of the Walking Dead series, along with all other titles written by Robert Kirkman, but the one problem I always had was price... paying four bucks (Canadian) for a comic that wasn't even coloured!!
So I found excuses to stop spending the money every month, and thought no more of it... until I came across this compendium. What a great deal! The very large- but well put together-book contains the first 50 comic stories from the series, so what would have ended up costing me over 200 bucks ended up being less than 35.
Any fan of Zombie stories has to treat this as a must-read. The characters are ultra-believable, and the stories very exciting. Oh, and the fact that there is no colour- perfect! Suits the tone of the comics to a tee.

I've watched Seasons 1-2 of the tv series before I started reading this and I gotta say, the graphic novel is even better ! A LOT of things happen in the first 8 chapters and the author is not afraid of doing anything to keep us really interested. I just received the Compendium 2 (extremely fast shipping again, got it the day before it was out) which I had pre-ordered, and already read the first 2 chapters. Like some said, if you like the tv show and you like graphic novels, just buy the 2 compendiums, you won't regret it. The only regret I have is that I'm going to have to wait a long time to be able to read compendium #3 :P I'l probably end up buying them separately

Getting the compilation is the way to go. But the book is very heavy and doesn't sit well unless you have it in your lap or on a table. Don't expect to be able to cosy up to it in bed.

And why would you? It's bound to give you night terrors! This book is very graphic, but well written. It doesn't hold back any punches. Prepare to be disgusted with humanity, in a realistic fashion. I will never be the same. And neither will any of the people I push this book on!

I have been in contact with "The Walking Dead" universe due to the tv show and a friend of mine told me that the graphic novel related to it was really good. As a fan of zombies and horror litterature/movies, I wanted to read about this serie, and this compendium was pretty cheap for the the entertainment that it offered to me.

I'm not usually into graphic novels, but this one kept me wanting for more, because each stories overlap each other so well you'll never want to put down the book. I was a little bit let down by the artwork, the first chapter of the book have a pretty distinct style that I liked, and changed over the course of the story, but it is not a big deal because the characters are pretty well-rounded and their stories believable. Although I was expecting more "creepy horror", it is actually more of a dramatic story than it is scary, but none the less pretty entertaining.

Finally, if you are into zombie apocalypse, survival, drama and social tension take a look at the compendium. I'm really looking foward for the next one.

Excellent comic! I devoured the whole volume over a few nights of reading and am looking forward to the next compendium, which should be out late this year (2012).

This book is very weighty, but easy enough to read sitting up with a pillow on my lap to support it. The binding was good and square, and the quality of the pages was decent.

This book includes 7 years of art and writing in a single volume. If you bought each of these comics indiviually they would cost you approximately $250. This is a steal for all these comics and I am really thankful it was released.

This is hands down the best and most through zombie story ever made. It is better then World War ZZZ( I hated that and couldn't even finish it) better then anything by David Wellington or Brian Keene, Better then any Resident Evil game plot this is the greatest thing zombie ever made. The characters and plot are very realistic and believeable there are no supernatural moments to destroy the atmosphere and make the story cheesey. The drawings and plot are very mature and well done in black and white. I won't give away the plot, but if you are a zombie or end of the world fan you have heard it all before, but not done this well.

This graphic novel is worth your time and the cheap price tag attached to it. Pick it up while it's still avalible. I got it for a Christmas present and couldn't have been happier. This is a heavy book over 1000 pages long. There is so much story in here it took me about a week to get through it reading about two hours a night and it's mostly pictures. This is probably the most fun I have ever had reading a Graphic Novel. Enjoy.
