Not Much of an Autobiography.,
By
This review is from: The Way I See It: A Look Back at My Life on Little House (Hardcover)
I gave this book one star because there is no option for minus stars or no stars!!This is the lamest autobiography I have ever read. More than half the book was dedicated to Little House dialogue line by line. A quater was just who she worked with in different movies during her career. Very much, "I worked with him on this show and it was nice." The last quater was more about the lives of others. She describes Michael Landon's house, family, affair, Melissa Gilbert's behariour at a birthday party and some of the interactions writers and directors and the friction between Karen Grassle and Michael Landon on the set. There is NOTHING in this autobiography that talks about her parents, siblings, family, life growing up, dating, marriage, moving, having children...nothing. It was the most boring autobiography ever. I read it in two hours because I skipped most of it. I was remarkably disappointed. There are other Little House stars who have written autobiographies I recommend those they are a great read.

Although I consider myself the ultimate Little House fan, Melissa Anderson's book was a bore. I couldn't wait to read it and it completely let me down. It was very poorly written. I was also hoping to hear more about the people she worked with during the Little House years, but when mentioning the name of an actor she was working with, the most detail she would give was that the person was "nice", or "competent". Not that I wanted juice on her fellow castmates, but I was certainly curious to know more about them working together! She mentions Melissa Gilbert only once or twice which I found odd as they were in so many scenes together. I was hoping to hear more about her experiences filming different scenes, instead of rehashing each episode line by line. Each chapter just seems to be a word by word reprinting of the script's dialogue. A big yawn when you already know the dialogue like the back of your hand!It does sound to me as though Melissa Anderson is a very happy, blessed, content woman, so I am not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. As always, I will remain a huge fan of hers and the show! :-)

What a bad book. A total waste of time. In almost every chapter, she just goes through a few episodes - and I mean really - she just describes the actual episode. It appears as if, to write this book, she re-watched episodes of Little House, and transcribed what happened in a few of her favorite episodes. She almost does not touch on what it is to be a child actress. There is one paragraph in the book about her relationship with Michael Landon. She does not go into her personal life, which would be fine, except that's the point of a memoir isn't it?It is badly written, hard to follow. A total waste of time.
