Purchase, Read, and Revisit Oct. 2 2009
By A. Joelson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
"The Well Dressed Room" by Annette Tatum and photography by Karyn Millet proposes an intriguing notion; your clothes mirror your personality and so should your home. Collections of elegant, polished and artful photographs grace the pages and collages or "storyboards" translate fashion into home decorating designs. Romantic, couture, classic, casual, bohemian, retro, resort, modern, eclectic, vintage and eco details are mixed using a diversity of the old and the new. Karyn Millet's photographs create a transcending emotion of chic timelessness with flowing, well placed objects and a brightness which symbolizes the art of living. The concept is both rich and splendidly simple. Pick up a copy, choose your style, place it on a table next to your bed, and revisit "The Well Dressed Room".

More than just a pretty cover! Jan. 7 2010
By Grace Camille Lyons - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Honestly, the cover had me hooked...waited a day, and HAD to purchase. I am so impressed with the contents, too. Annette Tatum goes into detail regarding the various types of styles and how they relate to your wardrobe and your home. You may find your classic way of dressing also seen in your home, whether in the details or the entire surroundings. This book helps you to peg your style(s) and opens your thoughts to all the nuances that go into The Well Dressed Home.
I was initially worried that I had fallen in love with the photos, and like some politicians, the book would turn out to be an empty suit (or should I say couture dress?). What a gratifying surprise to find the contents so insightful and informative...(I am still reading and learning quite a bit).
Beautiful book and very satisfying.

Love it Dec 3 2009
By I. Pajari - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I love interior decorating and design, but find myself to be in a tough spot when it comes to pinpointing my personal decorating style. I tend to like almost everything (modern, minimalistic, classic, french country, romantic etc.). This book takes an interesting approach to interior decorating in how it categorises different styles. It shows collages for each style so that it is easy for me to at least try to pinpoint my personal style, what I like the most or in what kind of a room I would like to sit in with my wardrobe or mood.

The collages in this book are made with a thought, and not like in many cases just to sell books with pretty pictures. However, I didn't find all of the collages to be what I would consider to be of that certain style, but I could still easily see the elements of each style in the collages, which I think is great. The collages don't for example focus on all the possible colors for a particular style. For example the classic collage contains mostly cognac and brown shades and I think you could add some colors of the other styles to classic, for example some colors of the casual style. Therefore some styles for at least for my husband seemed to be something that he would skip because of the colors in that collage, although I know he would like for example the classic style if the colors were different or if different styles were mixed and matched with that style. I guess you need to see the forest from the trees and my husband has just recently found the edge of the forest.

The book also goes deeper in describing what is essential to the different styles and the descriptions are written well for my taste. I am usually the kind of person who doesn't like to read too much, but buy books to get ideas. However this is one book that I have read from start to beginning, just for the fun of reading. This book is something that I am glad to add to my collection of interior decorating books. No money wasted on this purchase and it is difficult for me to find the next book to buy after this book has raised the bar pretty high.

Love love love! Nov. 18 2010
By Lori M. Sandstedt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I'm a fashion designer who also loves interior design. So this book had me at the cover! Without being formulaic, she introduces the reader to a broad variety of fashion styles like modern, vintage or bohemian and encourages you to use the colors, fabrics and textures to decorate your home. I loved her idea of creating inspiration boards similar to those used by fashion designers to distill and focus your vision. Outstanding photography, unique perspectives on combining styles, she covered all the bases.
