3.0 out of 5 stars good source unless you own a drafter, Mar 26 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Whole Horse Catalog: The Complete Guide to Buying, Stabling and Stable Management, Equine Health, Tack, Rider Apparel, Equestrian Activities and Organizations...and Everything Else a Horse Owner and Rider Will Ever Need (Paperback)
We purchased this book with high hopes when we were buying our young norweigan fjord draft horse. Though the book is extensive in its coverage of things you can buy for the use of a riding horse, for those who are interested in draft horses and the use thereof, this book is sadly lacking. We had to do a lot more searching for information regarding carts, shafts, work harnesses and the use of them, and there is nothing at all about horse farming and horse farming implements. Those looking for this type of information would be much better off buying a Lynn Millar book.

I owned this book back when it was first published and the new version is just as good with more updated info such as choosing tack, illness in horses, photos and drawings of what these things look like and detailed info on every aspect of horses and their care. Very good book for a beginner because once read your overall knowledge of horses and their care will be quite good and the type of info you can apply. Also gives you tons of references to organizations, clubs, etc. Great book for horse enthusiasts to own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive, April 25 2003

This review is from: The Whole Horse Catalog: The Complete Guide to Buying, Stabling and Stable Management, Equine Health, Tack, Rider Apparel, Equestrian Activities and Organizations...and Everything Else a Horse Owner and Rider Will Ever Need (Paperback)
This is the most comprehensive horse care book I own. I just love this new updated version. I also owned the 1985 edition and this new one has not only updated information, but more information. I highly recommend it to any horse owner or anyone interested in owning a horse (especially good for a first horse owner or lessee).
