This 1986 comedy never misses or loses it's comical beat (not even in 2003) !It is still one of my favorite comedies from the 80's. Whenever I view this tape now in the 21st century,oh boy, does it ever bring back memories of high school and the absurdly and fashionably challenged of the 80's ! So, of course the film will look simply outdated;but, so what ?! The plot's not very deep either. Just a simple tale of two guys going to charm school for a little bit of social climbing and to see who gets the girl (away from a rich goon)...It's the entire cast of dysfunctional and socially challenged misfits taking ettiquette lessons that is simply worth watching over and over ( Marsha Wharfield from Night Court fame as the cop with an attitude/aggressive problem) !
Whoopee Boys reminds me of what made Paul Rodriguez a hysterical and very talented, funny Latino comedian. His pure rawness and raunchiness keeps the viewer's attention!Another comical character of curiosity is the nerd of nerds actor Eddie Deezen who played Eddie Lipschitz as a geek who really made the the hysterics of going to charm school complete with Rodriguez' antics. What ever happened to Deezen? As for the other actors, unfortunately Denholm Elliot(Bavarian Luminati instructor) passed away a few years ago and was better known for his role as the kooky Marcus Brody in the Indiana Jones films. Michael O'Keefe would later star as Roseann Bar's brother in-law married to sister Jackie of the Roseann Show.He later married singer Bonnie Raitt in real life.
Yes, the comedy is worth having this put on dvd. Shame on the studios for not doing it ! Those of us growing up as teens when this film came out will still truly appreciate it's crass humor as well as have a flood of 80's memories.

Bavarian Luminati? Not very believable. Anyone whose studied Lara Cross will have a hard time swallowing that one. East LA Latinos counseling rich ladies to be careful with their pets since Vietnamese may eat their Pomeranians? "Their hind legs look so fresh and juicy". Like I haven't hear that joke before. Feigning sexual intercourse with Grouse (only the uninitiated would confuse a Grouse with a Cornish game hen)? And debating sex with a turkey? Henny Youngman did that bit back in the fifties in Catskils. Totally derivate humor. 2 stars out of 5 -- and I'm being generous.
For something new and funny see Bowling for Columbine. 4 stars. He does a gag with some farm animals and comic imitating the ex-Iranian spokesman Goatsbyday that will leave you rolling in the aisles. (What do iranian men do when woman won't put out at night? "Goatsbyday".I can't hear that enough.)

This movie has become one of my favourite comedies and is often watched by my brother and sisters and nephews. It really takes the mickey of how pretentious rich people are!. We often quote the hilarious one liners like "Why are there two toilets in the bathroom?"..., "....Is this the Phelps Institute? .. Perhaps, do we owe you any money?...".
We have watched this video so often that the tape has warped. It is such a great shame that this video is not on DVD.
For anyone who has a great sense of humour and won't be offended by some of the antics and comments by the actors this video is GOOFY and BRILLIANT!!!. It will really make your day.

I wholeheartedly agree with every other reviewer on this page. This movie is fantastic. Who do we have to beat up to to get this thing on dvd. One of the funniest movies ever...the portion of the movie spent at charm school is 20 minutes of nonstop laughter. When barney shoots the orange peel into humping's mouth...you have to rewind that and watch it in slow motion about 10 times...the faces he makes will kill you!
I thought I was the only one, but apparently I have found the other 28 people in the world who love this movie. Why this did not become a cult classic I'll never know.
"Hey spartacus, what are you in for?"

I first saw this movie on HBO around 1988. Have wanted to own it since I saw it. The tape I made off the VCR is almost worn out. This movie is one of a kind that will keep you laughing. There are so many good scenes, from the beginning in NY to the ending in FL. I still quote lines from this movie to my friends. Rodriguez is hilarious and the cast has so many well known people in it. Don't forget to watch all the way through to see the last little joke with the nuclear crabs. I have looked for this movie to buy for at least seven years now and have finally found it. Well worth the time to view it.

It took a rare brave man such as Paul Rodriguez to pose this lifelong dilemma to the masses. This was Paul Rodriguez in his Heydey, when he was doing those HBO Prison comedies. Roy Rash a ma tash attempts to bring a fly back to life and enjoys some free wine. Eddie Deezen writes a heartfelt sympathy letter inquiring on the state of the inquiree's breasts. All in all, I laughed so hard when I originally saw this that soda came out my nose. Why this hasn't been released on DVD, I have no idea...Dont wait, buy it and love it as it should be loved.
