The Wiggles are Australia's hottest children's entertainment and it's easy to see why. This 40-minute video is packed with 16 fun songs that make children want to dance and, yes, wiggle. Greg Page, the main vocalist, has a pleasing, folksy voice reminiscent of Canada's Raffi. Murray Cook and Anthony Field accompany on guitar, Jeff Fatt accompanies on accordion and keyboard, and all three dance, wiggle, and teach kids song-specific movements and lyrics. The songs themselves have imaginative lyrics and catchy melodies, a fact that hints at Anthony, Murray, and Greg's backgrounds in early childhood education. Costarring with this foursome are four lovable, costumed characters: Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Henry the Octopus, and Wags the Dog. The majority of the video features Greg, Murray, Anthony, and Jeff on uncluttered sets with simple background props that set the mood without distracting viewers from the musical experience. The latter portion of the video features several live performances ("Wags the Dog," "Five Little Ducks," "Wiggly Medley") from The Wiggles Big Show. The tour brought the foursome to America in 1999. This award-winning group from Australia provides a fun, interactive musical experience for kids ages 1 to 6. --Tami Horiuchi

My daughter was the first to watch this and she hated it so much that just seeing the start of a Wiggles trailer made her cringe. But now, years later, I popped it in for my son and he loved it.
Singing and dancing is the name of the game here. The dancing is sometimes clumsy but the steps are easy enough for young kids to follow along. Some of the singing is atrocious. But this is not aimed at me. The songs are short, fun, and infuriatingly catchy. I keep singing them at home!
I have watched it several times through and even got my daughter to reconsider (even though she is a bigger fan of Andre Rieu, The Royal Ballet, and Angelina Ballerina).
I have to say that while the studio performances could be better, the end segment from their live stage show exhibits greater talent (shouldn't it be the other way around).
My personal favorite on the show is Dorothy the Dinosaur (she is also the best dancer) and I do find Jeff to be rather odd looking (sometimes creepy). But all in all, the show captivates my children and the music is catchy. What more could a parent want?

I bought this video for my 14 month old daughter when I realized she was hooked on the Wiggles and I had only one of their other videos to play over and over again. While "Wiggly Play Time" (the other one) is pretty much three of their Playhouse Disney episodes strung together, "Wiggle Time" is mostly music - which is just the way my daughter (now 16 months) likes it! She is at the age where imitation is very important. I was thrilled the first time I saw her flapping her wings and saying "Kack, kack". Much to my amusement, she also pats her head during the "madhouse" part of "Uncle Noah's Ark". This is perfect stimulation for toddlers. They can easily pick up the actions and dance along with the Wiggles. And there are no long lulls between songs. Sometimes there is a brief introduction to some of the songs, but they are fun too. The only spot that sometimes loses my daughter's interest is the magic segment, but at other times she'll be riveted to it. My daughter enjoys most of the songs with animal sounds and teddy bears, but she'll dance to all of them at any given time. My husband and I love this tape as well. The songs are simple, but they are truly catchy and not at all annoying. The energy level these four lads have is contagious. They don't seem at all fake or like they are simply going through the motions. And we get a kick out of watching Murray and Capt. Feathersword trying to conceal their laughter during the live show at the end of the tape. This is the PERFECT tape for toddlers - and the parents of toddlers!

Out entire household is addicted to the Wiggles! Our...daughter...is normally a comfy couch potato who likes to lounge on her bottom with her blankie and thumb to the likes of Elmo, Teletubbies, etc. The Wiggles are a different story--this is truly interactive TV!
She adores their music (kids always seem to love anything that's a little bit rock n' roll!), but it's not enough to just sit there and watch it--she MAKES us get up and dance! If you're not standing, she's in front of you, tugging on your clothes until you join in. Other kids shows say "Hey kids, let's get up and move!" with very little effect on my daughter (who enjoys watching them, but isn't moved to stand up and imitate them most of the time). I can't really describe what it is about these four guys and their silly songs that makes it so addictive, but as my husband said, it's hard to say no to them! Subliminal messages? Maybe!
I HIGHLY recommend the Wiggles in this video (or any of the others) to parents like me who may want to get into shape, but don't have time for the gym or money for a lot of exercise equipment. What we have here is almost an aerobics class, which everyone can enjoy. Forget "Sweatin' to the Oldies"! Try some of the simple Wiggle movements! The jumps, hand claps, "hot potato" movement, etc. may look simple, but try doing what Murray, Greg, Jeff, and Anthony do for ONE minute and you'll see--it really takes your breath away! I became convinced after imitating them for a few minutes that these guys are in terrific shape. I also became determined that if they can do it, I can do it--so our family (well, at least my oldest daughter and I) works out with the Wiggles two or three times a day! P>Warning: If you're addicted to the Wiggles--a true Wigglemaniac, you may start wondering why EVERYONE isn't wearing a Wiggles Star-Trek-esque outfit and going around with "Fruit Salad, Yummy, Yummy" in their heads.

My son Cullen is 2 and has never been into Barney, Pooh, Tellatubbies, etc. We first saw a single Wiggles video between shows on the Disney channel. My son loved it immediately, so I bought one of their videos. Since its introduction, our son asks for it morning noon and night! The props were sort of amaturish looking, but the songs and dances make you forget that. Now we own 7 Wiggles videos, and although our son loves them all, the newer ones are a bit much with the computerized backdrops and obviously larger budget sets- this can be a bit overstimmulating- the earlier videos were not this way. Also, Captain Feathersword is more annoying with his high pitched voice and yelping in the newer videos. This is a change from the older video, and is a bit disappointing, as we really loved the earlier ones. We never tired of the older tapes, even my husband and I can take watching them over and over again. The Wiggles strength is in their catchy songs and easy to follow dances which kids love. I can do without the flash.
