This is the second novel for the Sweet Justice series. I did not read the first book but the second remains a stand-alone. This novel starts off with Seth Harper who wakes up in a drug-induced nightmare and discovers a dead female. He has a total memory lapse and only remembers being at the bar. A bartender says he remembers a male with a serpent like tattoo on his arm grab Seth. Seth has a friend named Jessie Beckett who is a Bounty Hunter and is shocked to learn his situation. The victim was a hooker who goes by the name of Desiree Vincent and she had a horrible crank addiction.
Sam Cooper is a friend of Jessie's who is a Vice Cop who assists Jessie on helping her find out what really happened with Seth. Alexa shows up and agrees to help Jessie as well in order to gain leverage in the case. I especially liked the pairing of Jessie and Alexa - they make a good team. We later learn that Jessie has a horrible past life.
As the case progresses, another body is discovered. Is someone trying to frame Seth?
Is Sam Cooper able to solve this case?
I liked this book up until the ending; I thought it abruptly cut off. It was very good up until this point. For those who like suspense, this book is definitely for you. The author's writing style is similar to Lisa Gardner and it is very exciting to read. When you read the ending, it definitely sounds like the author sets it up for a sequel.

This book was so good. It had great characters with a lot of levels that are not yet discovered. There were suprises all through the book and it is very well written. I can't wait to read more so I can find out more about each character. Seth Harper is a young man feeling deprived of his fathers love so he sets out to make contact with young women his father saved from a pedaphile while he worked as a cop. This gets him into trouble when he is set up for murder. Jess a bounty hunter and Seth's friend sets out to prove his innocence and is forced to deal with her own childhood demons. Jess gets help from other strong women. One is Sammie who is a long time friend and cop. The other woman is Alexa who works for an unknown employer and shows up and helps her with Seth's case and offers her a lucrative job after they resolve Seth's case. By the end of the book you don't know who she'll be working for and what the job is...Hopefully it will be answered in the next book.

Although the evidence is strong and she remains angry at Seth, Jessie knows in her soul he could not commit murder. She seeks proof of his innocence, but instead finds damaging information about him that leaves her shaken to the core and in danger from someone who does not want the truth to surface; her biggest fear is that someone is her Seth.
This is an exciting suspense thriller that pulls no punches from the start to the finish as Jordan Dane makes it clear there are some nasty people out there. Jess is a strong lead who holds the exhilarating story line and herself together though a dangerous scenario that includes her heart as much as her life. Fans will enjoy this taut Sweet Justice thriller as the investigative suspense grips the reader throughout.
