As a huge fan of the X-Files I was thrilled when I finally gathered the financial resources to order this boxset and since its arrival it has given me nothing but grief.
The problem being that many of the DVD's simply just do not play properly or at all. Now to confirm it's not just my player I have tried three separate DVD players including my computer's DVD player which has so far given me the best results.
I simply don't know what the problem is. I've examined the numerous disks of the set for scratches or gouges and they appear mint condition. Yet with many disks in the set my DVD players cannot read them and gives me the 'dirty disk' message. If I am fortunate enough to get a disk to play it will often freeze part way through the DVD making at least half of the episodes unwatchable. I'm heart broken that not only did I lose so much money on this item but that I now have to track down the individual seasons which appear to be of higher quality production than the DVD's in this boxset.

I too love the X-Files, and bought these some time ago. The disks are manufactured really poorly, and do not play properly on my DVD player or my computer. Some I can salvage some information from, but this is a huge waste of money, and is a terrible disappointment.

I only discovered this some time after purchasing it (I didn't run out to watch all 61 DVDs within 30 days), so Amazon doesn't feel they have any responsibility for the problem after I contacted them.

This set includes the entire X-files series, as well as the first movie and a documentary. There are also a few things like a comic book and trading cards thrown in for those who like that sort of thing. The first few seasons are in full-screen, but that's because that's how they were filmed. While obviously this isn't something to get if you already own a few seasons, it is good value if you're starting from scratch and want the whole series. A previous reviewer mentioned getting individual seasons for under $20 - I've rarely seen them under $50, so by my count getting this set saved me about 50%.

So many dvd's!! Well worth the price if you are an X-Files fan. I had never watched them before and I am not even much of a fan of sci-fi but I love this series!
