This was such a good book!! It was hilarious! Talk about 2 people who were ill prepared for the journey that they took! The extraordinary physical pain that they both went through, the experiences that this all led to made for some incredible tales. Yet at the same time what unfolded, as a result of this, made for some amazing experiences that helped them both in their different ways to discover parts of themselves that had been missing for a long time. Their month long hike was extremely engaging to read. As a result of their poor preparation it helped bring to the surface of their minds some of the challenges that they, and as we all, try to hide, from ourselves as well as from others. Their very different lessons led them to be introspective at times and at other times quite vocal, whether it was with each other or at times involving others on the trail. Their experiences were colorful and so very real you really felt that you were there along with them and yet I was glad I wasn't as it seemed that surely it could have been easier than this! It was a rich book full of insights, full of thought provoking episodes. Thank you both for such a wonderful and rich read. Dr Gunta Krumins-Caldwell author of On Silver Wings

Eli and Colin were not lovers or even friends when they decided to walk the Camino in Spain. They weren't even hikers. The only thing they had in common was they were Australians. They each had their own demons. Colin's come out at the beginning, Eli's demons at the end.
They each wrote about each day on the trail. It was realistic and not very attractive. I'm a hiker. I've done the A.T., the Mountains-to-Sea Trail and several other hiking challenges but I wouldn't do this as a hike. You have to have a purpose, a religious quest, a need to figure things out to walk the Camino. It's an entertaining adventure book. Danny Bernstein [...] Hiking North Carolina's Blue Ridge Heritage
