The new IPAD Portable Genius Book is what is needed for IPAD owners. However, portable, I would not call it quite that, it is larger size paperback that I have seen of more portable help books for electronic devices.

What I do not like about this, is the banner at the top that tells what chapter one is on.... It is purple/white background, with white font. White font? Can't see it well.
And, throughout the book, glossy pages, there are blocks of text, white font lettering on light blue background. Again, this is difficult to read, especially when on the blue background block, there is a faded white background. Who designed this? Maybe one feels it is cute, but really now? Cute is not the same as usable and functionable.

Most of the screenshot images are well-done, font headings do stand out, and graphics look appealing.

The information is basic, and at times, there could be more, but that is where the book is lacking..... more information on a process. I cannot remember what I found lacking, but there were several times.

The topics are covered, just need more detail, steps are displayed uniformly, and easy to follow....Rizzo

One of the virtures of the iPad is how simple it is to use. But it is a deceptive simplicity. Like most modern tech toys, you can choose how deep to go. Are you a user or a power user?

I was expecting this book to bring me to power user status. I can say that the chapter covering all things i Book and reading did take me beyond where I got with the user manual. Ditto some of the info on html.

Beyond that, there's not much here that is not in the free manual. It is however organzied in a more user friendly fashion - and for some, a book about a devices can be more helpful than finding the manual pdf you downloaded somewhere...

So useful in parts, but not genius.
