5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this book! April 21 2001
Format:Board book
Years before I became a mom, I worked in a day care. Most of the toddlers that I watched over would get so excited when we would read this book to them. Now, my daughter loves this book and will not go to bed until I read it to her. The brightly colored and cutouts in each page really keep her attention. Once, when my daughter was getting her temperature taken at the doctor's office and she was not having a good time, I recited the book to her and it calmed her down.

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked it! July 18 2000
This is a terriffic book for use in the music classroom, and at home. As a book that can be either sung or read: it is versatile. It's large size and colorful illustrations draw kids attention. I have personally found it to be very effective with my kindergarten through third grade students. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book for younger kids that can be sung or read!

I liked used to love this book when I was a kid, and so I checked it out for a project I was doing for english, but the book wasn't the same and I didn't like it as well. I didn't include as much detail. I really like how each time the old lady eats something even bigger to try to get rid of the fly, but each time she just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Read June 4 2003
Format:Board book
I don't know of many stories that are more fun to read. My daughter loves the animals and the bright pictures. The words will keep her attention through about half the book usually. She is still young though and some of the pages towards the end get a little long. The book is probably better suited for children 2 and older.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS BOOK! April 9 2002
Format:Board book
I remember singing "There was an Old Lady..." all the time in preschool, so when I found out that there was a book of this song, I had to buy it for my baby daughter. Not only is the song fun to sing, but the book is fun to read as well with its vibrant colors and cartoony illustrations. This is an excellent sing along book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun way to read or sing a classic song May 19 2001
By A Customer
If you sing this song to your kids then you'll love the book. If you think the song is too frightening then you obviously should not buy the book. My son is 10 months old and loves to stick his fingers into the holes (which get bigger and bigger as she swallows larger animals). It is very cleverly done.
