Book Description

May 1 2003
The first book to speak out against the pervasive influence of the American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on American politics, policy, and institutions resonates today as never before. With careful documentation and specific case histories, former congressman Paul Findley demonstrates how the Israel lobby helps to shape important aspects of U.S. foreign policy and influences congressional, senatorial, and even presidential elections. Described are the undue influence AIPAC exerts in the Senate and the House and the pressure AIPAC brings to bear on university professors and journalists who seem too sympathetic to Arab and Islamic states and too critical of Israel and its policies. Along with many longtime outspoken critics, new voices speaking out include former President Jimmy Carter, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney, Senator Robert Byrd, prominent Arab-American Dr. Ziad Asali, Rabbi Michael Lerner, and journalist Charles Reese. In addition, the lack of open debate among politicians with regard to the U.S. policy in the Middle East is lamented, and AIPAC is blamed in part for this censorship. Connections are drawn between America’s unconditional support of Israel and the raging anti-American passions around the world—and ultimately the tragic events of 9/11. This replaces 1556520735.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time!! Oct 23 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. It really is about time someone told the truth about the Israeli lobby. To date, the US government has given $91 billion. That's way too much for a foreign country, especially since we get so little in return. No one in Congress has the courage to stand up in the way of blocking unnecessary aid to Israel when other people need it more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Anti-revisionist account April 10 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Excellent novel... Very objective account.. No way possible can this be a propandaist account. Findley warned about people who place the label of "Anti-Semetic" to those who QUESTION the hypocritical U.S. foriegn policies towards Israel. Just simply questioning and raising awareness can lead to the destruction of one's professional and personal reputations with the label of 'anti-semetic' and 'nazi sympathizer' placed on them. This can be seen by the review below by the guy from Long Island, NY... Anyways, if u really want an excellent objective analyzation of how Israel has the US by the throat, please check out this book...

By the way, only reason i gave this book 4 stars and not 5 is that usually people don't read the 5 star reviews..

5.0 out of 5 stars A bird's-eye view on Arab-Israeli politics. Mar 15 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Never have I read a more comprehensive and objective book on the Arab-Israeli subject than this book by Mr. Findley.

Mr. Findley's contribution to this delicate subject is backed by his service of twenty-two years as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, twelve of them on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe and the Middle East.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The United States Under Siege!
Findley's book should compel us to reevaluate our relationship with Israel. It is compulsory reading even to those who are remotely interested in America's Middle East policies. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative but flawed
I liked this book to be honest. It highlighted Israeli espionage in the United States, a topic which is usually washed away, except for the high-publicity Jon Pollard case. Read more
