A good read,
This review is from: Thin, Rich, Pretty (Hardcover)
For anyone who is a fan of chick lit, this book is a great read. It has just the right amount of love, humour, strife and fluff. It is as captivating as any other Beth Harbison novel and as always, it has an underlying message that hits home with most women.

Relatable and Enjoyable,
By
This review is from: Thin, Rich, Pretty (Paperback)
This book has all the components of a great 'Chick-Lit' novel. The story centers around three women - two childhood friends and their childhood nemesis. The women are living very different lives in the present day. Holly is forever wishing to be thinner, Nicola is the almost-famous actress who wishes to be prettier and Lexi is the formally rich girl who has lost her fortune. All three are constantly working for that 'one thing' that would make them happier and fix all their problems in their lives. Holly needs to be thin, Nicola needs to be pretty and Lexi needs to be rich.I found myself cheering for all three women, hoping that they would all succeed because I idenitifed with all three. There isn't a woman out there who wasn't wished for these things at some point in her life. It's easy to identify with all the characters. All three struggle to meet their expectations of themselves, all three have regrets about things they have done and all three hold themselves to an impossibly high standard that cannot be obtained. In short, all three are REAL women! This is a great, fun and easy read. It's light-hearted and enjoyable and definitely a must-read if you love 'chick-lit'.

Reading with Tequila,
By Jennifer Sicurella - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Thin, Rich, Pretty (Hardcover)
Thin, Rich, Pretty volleys between summer camp twenty years ago and the present day. In the past, we see Holly picked on because of her weight, Nicola self-conscious of her large nose and Lexi being hateful to all those around her because of her mother's death and the introduction of her step-mother. In the present, we see Holly still concerned about her weight, Nicola still fretting about her nose and once rich Lexi left virtually penniless due to her father's will and her step-mother's cruelty.I loved the portrayal of summer camp and the nastiness between the girls. It was like middle school or high school, 24 hours a day. The girls, assigned to the same bunk, were forced to spend time together despite their feelings towards one another. Holly and Nicola's friendship stemmed from their being picked on by Lexi and her friends, and managed to survive into adulthood. Thin, Rich, Pretty was often predictable. Holly diets to win a man's approval. Nicola gets a nose job to get better acting jobs. Lexi, on her own without any income for the first time in her life, helps a man with his house to make ends meet. Things backfire, things change and some end up more miserable because of it. The women reunite and, of course, they all learn that what's on the inside matters in the end, with self-confidence and self-reliance being the major lessons learned. A cute romance develops in Lexi's storyline, but it seemed inevitable as soon as the man was introduced. The story was entertaining and uplifting at times, but I felt like I knew almost exactly what was going to happen every step of the way. Thin, Rich, Pretty has a bit too much in common with most other women's fiction books. It's fun, but nothing really memorable stands out. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

Really Enjoyable Read,

I liked the relationship between the friends and found this a very easy read. It is of course chick-lit but that is why we love it so much. For that genre, it was a good read.

I started the book recently. I had pre-ordered it. That is what I love about Amazon. Beth Harbison takes her readers back to a time when they were young, innocent and new without being over detailed or over dramatic. I loved her Shoe Addicts Anonymous. Thin, Rich and Pretty so far is a delight.
