if you are looking for the ultimate copland 3rd, this has got to be it! i happened to pull it out yesterday from my vast collection and was just so blown away that i had to come on amazon and check out reviews of other 3rds.. the sound is amazing with a natural hall-like perspective with explosive dynamics that will shake the foundation of your house. this is so much better that the NY phil/Bernstein disc!! as much as i do enjoy DSO/Jarvi and Minnesota/Oue, this is it.. great interpretation, gorgeous ensemble playing, and 1st rate sound. you will not be dissapointed!

Copland's Third Symphony

One of my favorite pieces of music since I was about nine years old. I grew-up listening to the vinyl recording that Copland conducted himself. It isn't on c-d. The fidelity on this recording is wonderful, just like the other reviewers said. I like the pacing better than the Bernstein recording. If you are fond of this symphony go out and buy it for the price of a couple of cups of coffee!

This is a beautiful recording of the Third Symphony and Music for the Theatre. Each recording has it's own personality and I would say that this one is a little stronger than Eije Owe (Minnesota Orchestra). I couldn't believe the price of the CD and the quality of the sound and performance. You can't go wrong with this.
