Book Description

Aug 4 2009 Thirst (Book 1)
At five thousand years old, the vampire Alisa thought she was smart enough to stay out of trouble. But when her creator returns to hunt her, she must protect herself by befriending Ray, the boy who may be her only chance at finding her maker. When she begins to fall in love with Ray, all of a sudden there is more at stake than her own life. Originally published in 1994, this series netted more than 500,000 copies as individual titles and later as bind-ups. This hot new repackage will revive the series for today’s teen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old School Vampire Series Jun 14 2010
By Missy O
Format:Paperback
I read this series when I was in high school which was over 15 years ago and I remember really liking it. I own the original paper back series which was not called thirst but "the last vampire". It isn't a sappy love story like twilight which is what people of today are used to. I recommend this series if you think twilight is too tame. I also recommend the buffy the vampire slayer books. And the Sookie Stackhouse series. All of which are better than twilight. Leave twilight to the twelve year old girls it was written for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many twists Feb 8 2010
By Quinn
Format:Paperback
I brought this book with no expectation. I know it is not Twilight / Sookie Stackhouse series and would like to try something new. This is an action packed story, told by a 5000-year old vampire, who is blonde and fair skin, originated somewhere in India (?!). I appreciate the author's attempt to putting in a lot of twists in the story, but I find it too shattered for my taste. I agree with other reviewers when they said they could not relate to the character because of the impersonal writing style. I am not sure if it's the author's intent to leave a lot of questions and holes to the story for imagination, but I find it unsettling and hard to follow. I do not know if I would recommend this book to anyone because I am not sure it is for teens based on some of the violence scenes. It is not a typical vampire story either.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting Oct 26 2009
By Michelle TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
I was really excited to read this book. One of my friends told me it was one of her favorite series from years and years ago and still loves to read them over again now. I started reading it and was thinking "this is a weird style of writing, but maybe I just have to get used to it" well I tried, but I just couldn't get into it. I read about 200 pages and had to put down! I ended up giving the book away, what a waste! It's not that the story was bad, it had what could have been a good plot I think... (I didn't read too much) but I just didn't like the writing style. I couldn't get attached even to the main character. I wish I could have. It just had no emotion; it was like she was telling her story without ANY kind of feelings at all. When there should have been sad feelings or happy feelings I felt nothing. Only in one spot did I get even a little excited about the drama that she was going through, but just not enough to fully get my attention and draw me in. Not a good book for me, but some other people seem to like it but this is just my thought on it.
