Product Description

Product Description

Winnie Perry is fourteen now, and the countdown to high school is shaping up to be as eventful as an entire year of middle school. Not only are things shaky with her boyfriend, Lars, but BFFs Dinah and Cinnamon have been acting weird, big sister Sandra is college-bound, little brother Ty has smuggled a stolen penguin home in his backpack, and new baby sister Maggie has everything turned upside down.

It's a lot for anyone to handle, and loyal Winnie is so busy worrying about everyone else that she hardly notices that she might just be struggling a little bit herself.

With humor and honesty, Lauren Myracle brings us another pitch-perfect novel featuring the characters that her legions of fans have grown up loving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!, Jun 15 2010
By r - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (Hardcover)
This book is really good!! The format of the book is different than 11, 12 and 13, but 13+1 is still really amazing! As always, the book opens with Winnie's birthday, this year being, obviously, 14. The book goes into more depth about Lars and Winnie and the problems they are facing. Also, there are some shocking moments regarding Dinah throughout the book. This book containes more problems than the other books, but I think that is what made it really good. Winnie and Lars; Winnie, Cinnamon and Dinah; Cinnamon and boys; Dinah and Mary Woods (a new minor character) -- All of these characters have problems. Overall, the book was great! I would recommend reading this book to anyone who is at least 12. Read 11, 12 and 13 before reading this book though!!

4.0 out of 5 stars My Review, Feb 20 2011
By HannahK - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (Hardcover)
13 Plus 1 is a great book about a girl named Winnie, her boyfriend Lars, and her two best friends, Cinnamon and Diane. In the beginning of the book it is Winnie's birthday and her boyfriend gives her a gift card. She hates it but does not tell him she really wanted a cupcake. In addition, she does not even get a cake it was a bad birthday. A while after that her friend Diane is found covering up for someone> It turns out that that girl is stealing and hiding stuff in Diane's locker. Meanwhile Lars just told Winnie that he is going to Germany for the summer with his family. Winnie does not want him to go but he has to. She and Diane find a camp to go to but Cinnamon does not want to go. When they finally get to a camp to save sea turtles they find out that Cinnamon is there to surprise them. After they are settled in Lars calls, he says that the trip to Germany is canceled and wants Winnie to come home. Winnie says no and they get into an argument. While at camp Cinnamon and Diane find boyfriends and Winnie starts to miss Lars. Winnie calls Lars and finally tells him that she wanted a cupcake not a stupid gift card for her birthday. Lars laughs but not in a bad way he is relieved but Winnie hangs up on him. Winnie finds out that a boy likes her from camp and wants to kiss her but she says no. Winnie then feels someone hugging her Lars! In his hand is a cupcake! They make up and kiss and all of them go home. When they get home, Winnie's sister goes to college. I really like this book because it was exciting and had a lot of suspense.
