Product Description

A Thrilling Ride invites fans to relive the greatest moments of the Canucks' most celebrated season and historic achievements. Vancouver's best sports writers -- including Ed Willes and Gord McIntyre of The Province and Cam Cole and Iain MacIntyre of The Vancouver Sun -- share their insights into the stellar play, the determined players, the overtime heroics, and the passionate fans, while more than 125 full-colour photographs record the dramatic action. The book also includes a heartfelt foreword by former Canucks coach Pat Quinn.

A Thrilling Ride takes fans on a journey through the entire 2010-2011 season, from the opening-night introduction of the Canucks Ring of Honour to the emotional ceremony to retire former captain Markus Naslund's jersey, and from the President's Trophy victory through all four rounds of the play-offs, including the Canucks' redemptive victory over archrivals the Chicago Blackhawks, to the final and formidable face-off against the Boston Bruins.

The book is also a tribute to Canuck Nation -- the enthusiastic and devoted fans who celebrated each victorious moment and suffered through each painful setback. A Thrilling Ride is dedicated to these passionate fans who -- with faces painted and towels in hand, some in green spandex body suits -- cheered relentlessly, long after the final buzzer. Fans who -- after hooligans and upstarts attempted to destroy their city -- showed up in the morning to restore order to the streets.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fitting Tribute to a Great Season, July 9 2011
This review is from: A Thrilling Ride: The Vancouver Canucks' Fortieth Anniversary Season (Paperback)
Being a diehard Canucks fan, this is the perfect memoir for a wonderfully memorable 40th season in the NHL. From pictures throughout the regular season all the way to game seven of the Stanley Cup Final and beyond, this book captures all the excitement, disappointment and triumph of our beloved Canucks. If you are a Canucks' fan, you won't want to miss out on this one!

This review is from: A Thrilling Ride: The Vancouver Canucks' Fortieth Anniversary Season (Paperback)
This book is a must-have for any Canucks fan, especially those who want to remember their magical run of 2010/2011. The book is mostly pictures, interspersed with a few articles, so it's a quick read. And the best part is, the price from Amazon is *significantly* cheaper than ordering it from the Vancouver Sun (and you can get it shipped for free too, provided you buy something else at the same time).

5.0 out of 5 stars For a True Canuck Fan, July 28 2011
This review is from: A Thrilling Ride: The Vancouver Canucks' Fortieth Anniversary Season (Paperback)
If you followed this team for all 82 games of the regular season to be filled with excitement and belief into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, then like me you were left at the end of the season feeling like there had been devastating hole carved into your gut after game 7 of the finals. Now that some time has passed and the wound is a little less fresh it is time to take a step back and look at the amazing season that led up to these playoffs. The Bruins may have taken the cup away from us but no one can ever take away what was one of the best seasons for the Vancouver Canucks in many, many years. The numerous team records and individual records that were broken, the stats, the awards, etc. are all put together in one extremely well done book. Each picture will take you right back to that moment and it's kind of exciting to be able to re-live those moments, and to have this book gives you the chance to do that over and over again. It's like looking at a family photo album, you can look at a picture and it brings the memories rushing right back. This book somewhat suprised me at just how well it was put together. I bought 2 (helped save on shipping and handling of course), one for myself and one as a Christmas gift to my son who is an even bigger fan that me.
