Product Description

Review

From the moment you open this brilliant photo collection, you feel as if you have stepped into an intimate history of snowboarding and the culture which surrounded it as it grew from a backyard pastime to a multimillon dollar industry. With his keen eye and intimate feel for a split second ,Ruben Sanchez has, through his cameras' aperature and focusing rings(note the title), captured the soul of snowboarders and has illuminated the essence of what it is that they do.There is more to this photo journey than breathtaking vistas, sick tricks, and sweet snowboarding style.Through the Rings reveals the diverse photo collection which has a made him one of the top snowboard photographers today. In this inaugural anthology, play on the mountain is complimented with surf play, street play, skate play, and plain hangin around.Awe-inspiring alpenglow, everyday life at Lake tahoe ,and world travel are all touched with Sanchez' seasoned eye.I have no doubt that this book will sit on coffee tables long after the empty beer cans, the frayed Snowboarder and Transworld magazines ,and the overused winter socks have been cleared away. After one look at "through the rings",one will be left withthe hope that"real"life will be able to live up its stunning portrayal as see on the other side of this talented photographers camera! -- Paula Wilson,Editor,North Tahoe Truckee Week

I'd like to congratulate Ruben Sanchez on his first book, Through the Rings. This body of work displays the talent that has made him one of the top snowboarding photographers today. And the fact he published it himself deserves a round of applause. The book is filled with amazing shots of snowboarding, surfing, and skating,as well as beautiful landscape and lifestyle photos. Some of the athletes featured in Through the Rings are Darren Cingel,Jamie Lynn,Dave Lee,Tim Manning,Nate Cole,Peter Line, Tara Dakides,Kevin Jones,Barrett Christy,Tom Burt,Devun Walsh,Andy Hetzel,Noah Salasnek, and many others.I can't say enough good things about Through the Rings because I just dont have the space. However, one thing I can say is it made me take a good look at life and appreciate the gifts i've been given! -- Shem Roose -Photo editor -Transworld Snowboarding Mag

Through the Rings is the first of its kind. It's a photo history of snowboarding, seen and told through the eyes of photographer/publisher, Ruben Sanchez.Ruben started snowboarding in the early days of the sport and lets the viewer experience these cherished days as Ruben once saw it happen. There are many fascinating scenic photographs showing his perspective of the places he has beenas well. Some of the shots are classics and were essential in the history of making snowboarding whatit is today.Ruben is a world renowned snowboard photographer and now you can see some of his favorite shots from the past 10 years.A definite must for anyone who admires adventure! -- Tim Manning-K2 and Morrow snowboard rep.
