Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

The story of Eva Cassidy--her phenomenal talent, her innocence, simplicity and lack of worldly ambition, and her sudden death from cancer at the age of 33--has caught the public imagination in a most remarkable way, especially in Britain. Once heard, Eva Cassidy's voice is unforgettable. Her tone was pure and clear, unclouded by vibrato and unwavering in pitch, but she could manipulate it to take in husky blues, ringing ballads or simple, unadorned folksong. It was all too much for record company executives. They didn't know what to do with such unlimited talent. As a result, she recorded very little, mostly in the small Washington DC studio of her friend, bassist Chris Biondo. That is where most of these tracks originate and there are some gorgeous performances among them. They make an moving introduction to the all-too-short career of a great popular singer. --Dave Gelly

Chronique amazon.fr

Sorti en 2000, Time After Time comprend quinze titres inédits enregistrés en studio, à quoi s'ajoutent quatre chansons live. --Philippe Margotin

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Talent Who Left Us Too Soon, July 15 2004

I discovered Eva Cassidy's "Time after Time," and I was blown away by her talent and ability to sing a wide variety of songs.
Simply said, Ms. Cassidy had a wonderful voice, one that was strong and one that could elicit emotion, all at the same time. She puts her stamp on such standard popular songs like "Kathy's Song," "Ain't No Sunshine," "Time After Time," and "Woodstock." The other songs on the CD are equally amazing.
Get this CD. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs We Remember, But Not This Way, Nov 16 2003

Originally, I purchased the album because it had a version of "Time after Time" on it. At the moment I am collecting different versions. Then I put the album on, and when I heard her sing "Kathy's Song" originally by Simon and Garfunkle, I literally started to cry.

And the next song was "Ain't No Sunshine" which I have done by Boney James, Jose Feliciano, DMX, Ray Charles and several others. The album is so well crafted, it is like drinking 500 year old cognac. The smoothness, the feeling of serenity that it gives, especially with songs that are mostly familiar is just too much to pass up.

I recommend it to anyone who likes emotional music done in a purely humanistic manner. Eva has created a true masterpiece with this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another classic from a lost treasure, Jun 24 2000

Eva Cassidy was a true original, with a warm, emotional voice that she could wrap around any kind of music - jazz, pop, folk, blues, gospel, you name it. On this CD, she moves seamlessly from the sixties folk of "Kathy's Song", to the sophistocated "At Last"; from a haunting cover of Cindy Lauper's "Time After Time", to the quintessential Joni Mitchell anthem, "Woodstock". Each is different, and she makes each uniquely her own. Cassidy had an uncanny way of achieving an astounding level of intimacy with her listeners. You'll feel that she's singing each story just for you. Only one cut on the CD, the Boxtops' "The Letter", is unsuccessful, but this rare misstep does not significantly detract from the overall quality of the album.

If you've never heard Eva Cassidy's music, you're missing something special. As marvelous as this CD is, the earlier "Eva By Heart" is even better. And on "Live At Blues Alley", she accomplishes the impossible; she sings "Over the Rainbow" as well as, if not better than, Judy Garland. On that same CD, her rendition of Sting's "Fields of Gold" will leave you breathless.

Buy "Time After Time" now, and make it the first in what will certainly be a collection of CD's by a most extraordinary artist.
