From Library Journal
In this Victorian romance set near Chester, England, an unexpected summons brings young American Elspeth Brown to Tynant Manor in England. Elspeth's mother, the sister of Lord Henry Marston, never told her of her English relatives or the circumstances surrounding her departure from Tynant Manor. Lord Marston wishes to correct his wrongs of the past by providing for his niece. Their friendship blossoms, while the relationship between Elspeth and Jordan Harrower, Lord Marston's good friend, erupts with tension. Jordan and Elspeth are uncontrollably drawn together, but their pride and independence get in the way of their love. Though the ending holds no surprises or revelations, the plot features some interesting twists. Speer's light, enjoyable third novel is a nice addition for large romance and historical fiction collections.
