While the 1960 version of The Time Machine remains a science fiction classic, this adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel benefits from a dazzling CGI facelift. Trading Wells's social commentary for pure adventure, director Simon Wells (the author's great-grandson) maintains the story's legacy of wonder, despite a few hokey embellishments. Too far from the book,

The director could have stayed closer to the book (on which the movie was based). I read it and must say that the original sticks a lot more to the book, although some small changes had to be made (Weena and the rest of the Eloi are child-like people, while they were adults in the movie). But on the other hand, if he had stayed closer to the book, it would have been just a copy (new and improved) of the original movie. So I'd say the movie was LOOSELY based on the book (the idea, at least, if anything else...)

Bon film mais il faut aimer la version originale,

J'ai aimé ce film, je suis tombé dessus par hasard. Un ami l'avait louer et l'avait trouvé moyen. Il me l'a décrit et j'ai réalisé qu'il s'agissait d'un remake. Comme sa location n'était pas terminé je l'ai vu gratuitement. J'ai toujours aimé la version original de ce film. C'est un grand classique pour moi. J'ai été ravit par la manière dont le réalisateur a modifié les choses juste assez pour que ce ne soit pas une copie. Le chercheur avait un but différent et réalise des principes non abordés dans la version originale. La scène ou la lune se brise, wow. Inquiètudes à la sauce du jour. La seul chose que j'aime moins c'est la destruction des méchants. Un peu tiré par les cheveux, mais que veux-tu, on ne peut pas tout avoir.

I absolutely loved this version of The Time Machine. The temporal paradox thrown into the tale makes the story all that much better and the special effects were beautifully done. The time machine itself is an amazing prop, mixed with the right special effects and it looks great. One of my favourite scenes was watching the moon break up. Everything about this version was well done. I watched a little of the old 60's version and what a difference.If you're a fan of Time Travel movies you won't be disappointed with this. I loved the ending of the movie, very touching. This is one of those movies that doesn't collect dust, at least not in my home. Well worth buying.
