Product Description

Product Description

Ever see from the corner of your eye something dark or inanimate move, then turn and verify that it did not actually move? Ever hear music that seemed to have no source? They moved. And the music was real. Curious how the the mind wants to keep us in our working lives, cooking dinner and doing dishes. But some of what you observed was not illusion. A jade figurine exhumed by a Spanish priest in the 15th century watches the interplay of greed, religion and pride. On the way to Europe, violence and greed punctuate “reality” for the people and the statuette. In sequestered days and weeks, it ponders the kindness of children and the very fabric of light and time. Unveiled anew in Spain, the figure perceives the change in humankind. As a voyeur to the thoughts of idealists in the Spanish Civil War, it finds political motivations have evolved. Greed has been overpowered by emotional politics and ideology. And so runs the tide. The Felangists sweep through Spain, while in the not-so-dim shadows are the Nazis. Radical nationalism and resonating love combine to spin the small statue into a whirlpool of human and spiritual consciousness, forcing it to become active in human affairs. “Time, Vision, Fate”—the words inscribed on the pedestal in jade. The destiny of the sculpture begins to stir and come to life. Focus is slowly shifted to ancient clan vengeance. Mutual annihilation of clans crystallizes. Fate brings a child into the life of the figure, who has noticed the cryptic motion and finds a way to tell the figurine that it must listen to inner will and awareness and forsake the vendetta. A higher awareness flows into the fabric of the sculpture, and the resultant struggle for control over its own destiny and preprogrammed functions climaxes in a final showdown with its clan rival. The rival, facing certain death, is spared by implanted suggestions from the girl and the sculpture. In later years, the figure discovers that fate had all along planned to end centuries of conflict and quiet the disharmony of ages.
