Book Description

Mar 29 2011 TimeRiders
The Doomsday Code: the third book in Alex Scarrow's exciting TimeRiders series. Liam O'Connor should have died at sea in 1912. Maddy Carter should have died on a plane in 2010. Sal Vikram should have died in a fire in 2029. Yet moments before death, someone mysteriously appeared and said, 'Take my hand ...' But all three have been given a second chance - to work for an agency that no one knows exists. Its purpose: to prevent time travel destroying history...In 1993 British computer hacker Adam Lewis finds his name in a coded manuscript that is almost one thousand years old. How did Adam's name get in there ...and why? Confronted by Adam in 2001, the TimeRiders travel back to Sherwood Forest in 1193 to discover the origins of the ancient message. But when a strange hooded man appears interested in the same thing, they begin to wonder what terrible threat this cryptic link from the past holds for the future...Alex Scarrow used to be a rock guitarist, then he became a graphic artist, then he decided to be a computer games designer. Finally, he grew up and became an author. He has written a number of successful thrillers and several screenplays, but it's YA fiction that has allowed him to really have fun with the ideas and concepts he was playing around with when designing games. He lives in Norwich with his son, Jacob, his wife, Frances, and two very fat rats. The TimeRiders series: TimeRiders; Day of the Predator; The Doomsday Code; The Eternal War; Gates of Rome; City of Shadows; The Pirate Kings Alex's thrillers for adults: A Thousand Suns; Last Light; october Skies; Afterlight; and, The Candle Man.

Review:
This is the third book in what is quickly becoming the hit Timeriders series, never a fan of young Adult fiction but always an admitted fan of Alex Scarrows work i approached the first book in two minds, would i feel obligated to like it, would it be too fluffy for an adult, would the language talk down to kids etc..
There was never that problem with the first book, the second or this fantastic third in the series so far.
Each book in the series truly gets better than the last, the plot lines cleverer, the characters more depth, and the emotional connection with the reader stronger.
I as an adult love these books, I have bought them for my son, my nephews and my god children all of whom love the series, and i will probably put a set away for my granddaughter for when she is old enough.
These books are for me a set of books with a story that can be read and reread with characters any age can relate to. The best part of this series is that there is so much potential it could run and run forever, when you mess with time you can mess with history and the results truly fun. I for one would be quite happy to see this series run forever with its current quality. (Parm)

first of all
This book DESERVES 4.5 stars!

we've all heard of Robin hood and admired him but we keep forgetting that he is a myth and it is possible that he did not do all he was said to have done and this book explores that fact and what would have happened if king john had been killed .
liam is becoming a strong and wise young man and becks and bob provide a lot of laughs in very difficult circumstances.
sal on the other hand is becoming a side character and sometimesyou forget that she's actually there, which i find a little dissapointing.
maddy is becoming a leader and is finally given the importance that is due to her in this novel(according to me)
adam lewis on the other hand is a welcome addition .He makes this story unique in his own way

Well written, imaginatively plotted, with interesting characters, as well as history woven in. It's a great read, never boring, thoroughly enjoyable.
