Four Soldiers, Book Three,
By
This review is from: To Beguile A Beast (Mass Market Paperback)
Helen Fitzwilliam has been the mistress of Algernon Downey, the Duke of Lister, for years. During that time, Helen has given birth to a daughter and a son. Lister has not come to Helen's bed for a very long time, yet refuses to let her go. Lister considers Helen and the kids as his property. If Helen even hints at leaving him, Lister takes the children away. Finally it is too much. With the help of Lady Vale, Helen and the children flee to Castle Greaves in Scotland. Helen is to pose as a widow and announce to Sir Alistair Munroe that she is his new housekeeper. Helen had been told the man was a recluse, but no one warned her of his ghastly scars of injured fingers. Unable to do anything but go forward, Helen must somehow convince the disagreeable man (she mentally addresses him as "Sir Beastly" due to his rudeness) to let her take the position of housekeeper. Every inch of the crumbling castle is caked with dust and grime. But this is the perfect place for Helen and the children to hide.Six years ago Alistair had been charged with discovering and describing the flora and fauna of New England. It was a civilian position with the 28th Regiment of Foot. Due to a traitorous spy, the men walked into an ambush at Spinner's Falls. Alistair is one of only a few survivors. It was there he lost an eye and found the scars. Since no female or child can see him without screaming in horror, Alistair stays in his castle. The last thing he wants is a servant underfoot, much less two children. If only he did not find Helen so desirable or the children such a delight. ***** Elizabeth Hoyt loosely takes the foundation of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" fairy tale and spins a web of pure delight. Helen did what any good parent would by risking her life to remove her children from possible harm. But only a strong woman would be a match for Sir Beastly, right? As an added bonus, there is part of a short fairy-like-tale about the "Truth Teller" at the beginning of the prologue, each chapter, and the epilogue. I believe this story will be another sparkling diamond for the author's crown. Nothing less than magnificent! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

Best One yet,

I've been waiting for this book since November and the 6 month wait was totally worth it! I laughed, I cried, I fell madly in love with Alistair Munroe and I read the whole thing in 4 hours. With wonderful characters such as the young too serious Abigail and the irreverent Sophia, satisfying plot lines and steamy exciting love scenes this book will leave you satisfied on every level. A must read!
