Another year, another Tony Hawk game Oct. 23 2007
By N. Durham - Published on

Ah yes, it's that time of year again when all the various franchises are out with new releases just in time for the holiday season. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground finds the legendary skater riding again on the PS2 with what may be the system's last hurrah with the Hawk-meister, and boy does it show. The story elements that have become a staple of the series over the last few installments are here again, but it feels as if there's a lot missing compared to the higher powered versions of the game. However, it is worth noting that the game doesn't actually look half bad for a late in life PS2 game, and even looks a bit better than last year's Tony Hawk's Project 8. There's a good soundtrack as usual and the typical, tried and true Tony Hawk-style gameplay mechanics that we all know and love are here, but there's no online features to be found, which is by far the biggest disappointment of Proving Ground. All in all, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is about what you would expect from the series at this point on the PS2, which is still worth checking out if you're still hanging on to your aging console.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground June 8 2008

Proving Ground is the next Chapter in the TH usual, graphics are better, and features are better, but basically the same game. It's still fun to play, but for my taste, I would like to see some more realistic (simulated) type of game, where the skating is more believable...not 30 ft ollies off of a kicker...4 stars!!

Not what I call a great game, it's a game but not well developed. I remember the older Tony Hawk games and could recall they were a lot better than this. I think the development team on this just got lazy and wanted to make a game with "better" graphics for the newer systems and just threw out some upchucked garbage for the older consoles. Really bad move on their part. I'd stay away and go back to the older titles.

Ive always loved playing tony hawk games when i was a kid so i thought i would buy this one for old times sake. The shipping was fast and the product was in great condition. The one and only law with the game is the very small maps that you cant really roam around in like in the x-Box version but overall it was a great game with fast and easy shipping.

This game was one of my favorite games. The walking, compared to Tony Hawk's Underground, is a bit slower and less maneuverable. But, I found some of the challenges to be quite difficult. But, it is part of the Tony Hawk's series and a continuing story from Tony Hawk's Underground 2.
