Snoop's second album for the No Limit label finds him in fine form--maybe the finest since Doggystyle. On Top Dogg, Snoop has taken control of his own album; in working with a number of producers (Dr. Dre, Ant Banks, Raphael Saadiq, DJ Quick, and the Beats by the Pound team), he takes the best each has to offer and forces them to play to his own strengths. Though there are a few gangsta tracks on Top Dogg ("My Heat Goes Boom", with its "boom boom boom" chorus, is one of the album's best), the strongest songs here are the ones on which Snoop gets creative. There are a pair of tributes to Slick Rick--"Snoopafella", a Cinderella story on which Snoop aces Rickey's flow, and "G Bedtime Stories", which opens with a little kid asking "Uncle Snoop Dogg" to read him a bedtime story--and a few tracks built around classic samples (of George Clinton's "Black Hole Theme", Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star", and even Brick's "Dazz"). There may not be anything here as transcendent as "Gin and Juice", but that's a minor complaint; Top Dogg is Snoop's best album in years. --Randy Silver

Some Snoop Fans who love "Doggstyle",
compare it to Doggstyle, and give it 1~2 stars is too radical.
Actaully Snoop is done a great job in here!
If I comapre this to his lastest album "Paid Tha Cost to be Da Boss", I think Top Dogg is far better than Da Boss!
Although this isn't a straight classic,
but it got some classic material, for example:
Buck 'Em - Dre is Genius!!! He Did it again!!! The Beat is SO TIGHT!!! I love its Darken feeling and the banging beat! Not only one of my favorite in Top Dogg but one of my favorite snoop track!
Snoopafella - Another Great song! Great Funky Beat with Snoop's Funny Tale, This song can be One of the Snoop's Classic!
Bit*h Please - Don't tell me you haven't heard this before!
This should be one of the best song in modern Hip Hop History!
One of the best beat I ever heard, Bouncy. Groovy, You can't stop your head nodding when you listen to it! Dr. Dre is Genius!
Featurin' Xzibit and Nate Dogg but I wish Dre dorp some lines in here.... [but Luckily, in Em's Marshall Mathers LP they re do this song and Dre rap on that!]
Just Dippin' - The Last Track Produced by Dre in this album, and Dre finally drop a verse in here, but!!! I wish he never rap in here, Sheet~ His voice don't even sounds like him, I got no idea, it's like another rapper which sounds 20% like Dre.... maybe Dre got a Flu when he recorded this sonng..... But The beat is nice anyway!
Don't Tell - A Good Chillout. Relax Track, Featuring Warren G, Nate Dogg and Mauseburg! Very Nice one!
and Nearly all other tracks is above average!
I know The Game is to be sold Disappoint many,
but this one is really great,
Got Some Great Producer like Dr. Dre and DJ Quik!
But The Wack Producer The Pound is still here,
but his produced song Down 4 My N's is sounds good!
No reason for y'all to don't get this album,
If you're Snoop Fans then this is a MUST HAVE!

This cd is Snoop doggs best cd at No Limit records, no doubt 'bout that! I really like this cd a lot and if you like Snoop Dogg or if you're a real fan you'll love this cd! This is the best cd Snoop put out since "Doggystyle"... Some people said Snoop fell of when signing for No Limit but this cd proves the opposite, Snoop's still on top of things! His great flow hasn't changed, the only thing that he lost a little bit are his funny lyrics, they aren't as funny anymore! But still, I think No Limit has done a great job with this cd, it's overall a good production with some Stand-Up songs like "Buck 'em", "My heat goes Boom", "Snoopfella", "6 Bedtime Stories", "B' please" wich has a great Xzibit on it, "Gangsta ride", "Just dippin" and "20 minutes"...Those are all the best songs, there are a lot off guest apperiences like Dr.dre, Xzibit, Silkk the Shokker, Goldie LOC and many more... SO if you like No Limit records or Snoop Dogg this cd is defenitaly something for you! There are some tracks I really don't like, such as "Doin' to much", man, that's the worst song on the album, "Don't tell", "Trust me" and "In love with a thug" wich has a stupid lyric... But overall this is a good album though, best Snoop dogg/No Limit cd if you ask me! A defenite BUY....

Let me just put it out there like this. If you dont like this album, your dont like Snoop Dogg.
1st I pose this question. Why do people compare EVERY album that Snoop Dogg has written to his infamous classic Doggystyle? This isnt the early 90's anymore, and Death Row Records hasn't turned out a good tune for a few. Snoop, Dre, Kurupt, Daz, Warren G, everyone has moved on to something else. Do we compare all of their music to their 1st solo album? NO! Then why compare Snoops?
Now on to the album. This album is easily 5 stars. 1st off Snoop Dogg doesnt feature every No Limit artist, and the beats are so much better than Da Game is to be Sold, Not to be Told. Every track on this album is bangin. You wont have to skip any tracks (maybe the skits). This album is a true West Coast Gangster Rap meets the Dirty South. This is by far the best album Snoop Dogg has made without the production of Dre.
This album features the No Limit Soldiers, Dre, Xzibit, Warren G, Daz, I mean WOW!
The only reason that someone wont like this album is because they got a (bad) system to play it on. Go out and buy yourself some 12"s for your trunk, grab some of that Old E, and bumb this album into the night.
