An incredible opening segment with Richard driving a Lexus LFA, the new Lexus supercar. They used some funky graphics / animation to go along with the driving. The crazy part of this car, it costs 300,000 pounds and really is just outrageously too expensive. The Stig takes it around the track and posts a remarkable time.
The news is funny, since they recorded the show in December, and this is the New Year's show, they had to talk about the car that they liked the most in 2011. They got a bit caught up in what the actual date was, given the pre-recording.
Jeremy drives a BMW X6, all over the world. The segment is pretty darn funny given all the locations for this review. The guys all end up agreeing that the car makes no sense, it is horribly expensive, not a good off road vehicle, and not a good road vehicle. They think a Range Rover is a much better vehicle. There's a funny moment on a grassy hill where the BMW won't even stay parked. In a round about way Jeremy does another America bashing moment. The X6 is designed for the US, not Europe and certainly not England. I'd also stand that BMW up on reliability any day of the week against the Rover. They did edit this one up for the BMW to look really stupid.
The star in a reasonably priced car is a singer Seasick Steve. Steve is a traditional country blues artist that was living in England in 2010. He has some unusual homemade instruments, and shows off a pretty cool guitar made from hubcaps. His lap around the track was almost expected to not be great. He loves cars, but mostly from the 50's.
The end of the show was the annual awards show. This is always a lot of fun and never serious. Some good laughs here.
Nov. 11, 2012 Update: This series of reviews was published when Amazon allowed each episode to be reviewed individually. They are now lumped into a single product listing. I have added the Episode Number to the title.
