Book Description

Aug 19 2005
Top Secret/Majic is the result of nuclear physicist and renowned UFO investigator Stanton T. Friedman's twenty-one year search for the truth about the mysterious Operation Majestic 12, President Truman's top-secret UFO investigation team. In this updated edition of his landmark book, he tells the incredible tale of the July, 1947 recovery of a crashed flying saucer near Roswell, New Mexico, and the establishment by President Truman of a truly all-star cast to deal with the saucer and its non-human inhabitants. The first four Directors of Central Intelligence, the first Secretary of Defense, and several outstanding scientists and military leaders were part of the team. Through painstaking research and startling evidence—including documents that have never before been published—Friedman effectively exposes the U.S. government's biggest-kept secret: a fifty-eight year UFO cover-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading Mar 4 2007
By LeBrain HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Stanton T. Friedman is one of the most well-known ufologists in the world. His research is unparalelled. He has dug further and deeper into government archives than most would even want to. It hasn't been an easy trip for him, but the results speak for themselves.

Friedman calls himself a fact & figures man, and that's mainly what this book delivers. Essentially, it boils down to this: There's an 8-page document that was received anonymously that purports to be a briefing paper given to President-Elect Eisenhower about the UFO crash at Roswell. If genuine, it would confirm not only are we being visited by aliens, but that the US government has known about it for quite some time. The bulk of the book consists Friedman trying to find flaws in the document by checking dates, names, places, times, all the minute details that you can think of and dozens that you wouldn't have thought of. Was he able to shred the credibility of the report? Buy the book and find out.

Friedman has done his homework, and has been doing it for decades. This book is not something that was produced overnight. Only decades of research, in 15 archives, and interviews with dozens of people, could have produced a book of this depth. I found Friedman to be absolutely convincing, especially when debunking those who have attempted to attack his methods. He tends to repeat things from chapter to chapter, but I found this helpful as there are so many names and dates to keep in your head.

As a bonus, Friedman includes a recently found, highly detailed UFO document. He has yet to finish researching its background and probably won't finish that for quite a few years. However, when you get to the end of the book and read it, it will give you chills.

I have found Friedman to be a very thorough researcher, and this book was a total page-turner for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get off on the right foot in beginning your own research into UFO phenomena.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom from a dedicated researcher. Jun 13 2007
By Noe - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
For those who read extensively in this area, Stanton Friedman is clearly the Einstein of the field. Not one to engage in unsupported speculation, Friedman approaches the MJ-12 question carefully, methodically, and with the highest standards of scholarship. When he doesn't know something, he clearly states it. When the evidence shows that something is likely, he explains why it's more likely than other explanations. In this book, Friedman tackles, among other topics, the amazing manuscript known as the Eisenhower Briefing Document, which, if legitimate, amounts to an admission by the U.S. government that UFOs are real and that their existence has been deliberately kept from the American public since at least the 1940s. Friedman argues masterfully in favor of the authenticity of this seminal UFO proof document. In my opinion, this is the best book out there about the so-called Majestic 12 documents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wishful Thinking? I Think Not. Feb 26 2007
By C.J. Giovanni - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Let's be honest. There is no "PROOF" of an extraterrestrial presence that you will find in this book or ANY other book. However, as many other respected researchers, investigative journalists, and curious scientists have done in the past, Stanton Friedman presents a strong case for the ETH (Extra-Terrestrial Hypothesis). He validates every assertion he makes throughout the book with substantial verifiable evidence in government documentation and otherwise. Friedman never simply promotes his personal opinion as matter of fact - at least not in Top Secret/Majic.

The appendices are terrific as well including the MJ-12 Eisenhower Briefing Document in its entirety, a letter from General Twining to Schulgen, insider information uncovered during authentication of Majestic-12 documents, some exclusions to the freedom of information act, Air Force response to senator Patty Murray, and the directors of central intelligence (from Sidney Souers to John Deutch). There is also 10 pages of external sources and references from large scale scientific studies to books written about and by debunkers.

Also included are 22 black and white photographs of alleged members as well as key Roswell witnesses, and Friedman himself along side debunker Phil Klass. There is also a recreation of the Majestic-12 Operations Manual as deciphered by Dr. Robert Wood from low quality snap shots consisting of 18 pages.

Friedman effectively and substantially demolishes the competition by irrefutably ruling out common debunking explanations for the MJ-12 documents to validate his postulation of authenticity. Such debunking explanations as the "cut and paste" job with the Truman signature as well as specific words and phrases used that were "not in use at that time" and of course the common misconception of military date format.

Mr. Friedman also effectively justifies his position on fraudulent MJ-12 documents and gives extensive reasoning and evidence for their fraudulence and lack of correlation to authentic MJ-12 documents. Stan also exposes the hoaxed Roswell alien autopsy video fiasco.

Through his meticulous research and investigative efforts, Mr. Friedman has effectively ruled out nearly all arguments against authenticity. Although he doesn't necessarily provide irrefutable proof of authenticity (if such were even possible), by picking apart every argument yet to question the validity of said documents you can rest assured there is little reason to doubt the authenticity of MJ-12. With the addition of his 10-page afterword, Friedman puts an exclamation point on his position and sufficiently stamps out false arguments so often recycled in the misinformed media.

The presentation of accumulative evidence may seem boring to some because of the lack of strange details, claims, and twists and turns in the story so typical in UFO literature, but the evidence is there nonetheless and certainly makes a very strong case for authenticity, you just have to have the will to evaluate. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, though, and don't regret buying it at all.

Disregard dismissive disparaging reviews. It appears very evident those whom submit such reviews have not read the book at all by maintaining a lack of evidence and inferences towards subjective research relying on second and third hand witnesses. The fact of the matter is, you could write such a review for any book related to the subject matter, but it does the reader no justice to accept such dismissive diatribes off-hand.

Excellent book. After reading this book, it looks like there are no good arguments against the validity of the Majestic Documents. The book is very well written and reveals many facts about debunkers. Very good appendices also.
