Book Description

Aug 18 2009 Torchwood (Book 7)
Jackson Leaves: an Edwardian house in Penylen, built in 1906, semi-detached, three storeys, spacious, beautifully presented, and left in good condition to Rob and Julia by Rob's late aunt. It's an ordinary sort of a house... except for the way the rooms don't stay in the same places. And the strange man that turns up in the airing cupboard. And the apparitions. And the temporal surges that attract the attentions of Torchwood. And the fact that the first owner of Jackson Leaves in 1906 was a Captain Jack Harkness... Featuring Captain Jack Harkness as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit series created by Russell T. Davies for BBC Television.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile, Funny, and Well-Written Aug 23 2009
Format:Hardcover
Funny, scary, mind-bendingly twisty tale of one house that seems hell-bent for hell's gates. Packed with more enjoyable scenes and dialogue than ought to be legally permitted (including more name-dropping of the author's friends than one would suspect, for that matter). Adams has the right mix of saucy, cheeky, intelligent tale spinning to make 'TV Tie-In Novels' actually respectable. And, given his nature, that's the most surprising thing of all. Read it. Read it NOW! Do it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a fun read July 12 2010
Format:Hardcover
I enjoyed reading The House that Jack Built and was genuinely surprised at how well the author captured the characters personalities (mind you, it's not perfect but rather close). It's always a hit and miss if a book is based on a TV series where everyone is familiar with the characters and know their disposition quite well.

Although, as expected, there were creepy and unusual circumstances that can be a bit disgusting at times. It's not disturbing nor god awful, that is just typical Torchwood, weird and bizarre.

I liked the idea of Jack having an intimate connection with the case, it pulls everything together.

3.0 out of 5 stars He shouldn't doubt how he writes! Dec 22 2009
Format:Hardcover
At the very beginning of the book, the author writes that he dedicates the book to his wife because she motivates him even though he doubts his writing. Well he shouldn't! I really enjoyed the story and the personalities of each character were pretty close too what they should be. I originally purchased the book as a christmas present but could not resist the urge to read it. I am really glad I did!

I give it a three out of five mostly because nothing is perfect but also the fact that it did seem a little rushed near the end. Not as bad as other books that I have read, but just a tad.

If you're thinking of buying this book, I say go for it! You won't be disappointed.
