I'm using this with my MacBook Pro and Soundscience 2.1 speakers. The cable is great quality and works as expected.For those who don't know: the MB Pro detects that you've plugged in an optical player and disables the volume controls. The optical out on the MB is the same plug as the headphone jack, but it works like a line out. Definitely recommended for hum-free audio.

Works great... Great deal !I was using the electrical connection on my MacBook Pro
for audio into my Home Theater amplifier... but somewhere
I was picking up a 60 Hz buzz/hum.
