5.0 out of 5 stars Max Payne in Mexico, Mar 5 2006

This review is from: Total Overdose A Gunslingers Tale in Mexico (Video Game)
This is a very good game. It's kind of like a mix between Max Payne and GTA set in Mexico. The graphics aren't too good but it's got great action and a very good story line. If your into action heavy shooters with lots of cool moves, get this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable game., July 26 2007

This game can best be described as a mixture of Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Desperado. It has the mixture of free roaming and mission-based storylines from GTA, the bullet time of Max Payne, and the gunplay and Mexican-themed music and feel of Desperado.
You play as the twin brother of a DEA agent who goes undercover to try to break up a Mexican crime ring. During the game, you can use a variety of weapons and vehicles to score points and increase your weapon skills, health and adrenaline.
The cons: the graphics are not in the Halo/Doom 3-D caliber , but I don't mind giving up a little graphic quality for good gameplay. The adrenaline bar - which allows you to use the bullet time feature - is too short, even with the pickup-based increases available in the game, which is not good when you're surrounded by gun-toting bandits. The pedestrians seem to jump into the path of your car for no reason, which is very annoying during time-based missions.
The pros: plenty of action, a good variety of weapons to choose from, a decent storyline, a nice ending, and a fine amount of violence throughout. Plus, the bizarre moments in the game were interesting: for example, one pickup temporarily changes you into a Mexican wrestler so you can fight others around you who were also turned into wrestlers.
The game wasn't too short for me, although I didn't play it every day. Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable mixture of missions and gun battles. The game didn't appear all that interesting when I first looked at it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth at least a rental, if not a purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars very bad, Nov 12 2005
By Daniel - Published on Amazon.com
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Total Overdose A Gunslingers Tale in Mexico (Video Game)
Here's a list of facts about the game.

1. very low polygon count.

2. horrible driving.

3. pedestrians run away from you when you go towards them, run into a wall (or eachother) and then fall down and die because of it.

4. very bad voice acting and plot.

5. trying to be GTA in every manner as far as driving, shooting, missions, perspective, item collection, but worse in all.

6. trying to use bullet time from max payne, not so effective.

7. some good spanish rap music.
