I've been using this cutting board several times a day for four months. I rarely oil it and sometimes we leave it in a puddle for several hours by accident, but it hasn't protested. I think the multi-ply construction keeps it flat in spite of so much exposure to moisture. I think the board might have shed a few fibres during the first few uses, but not since then. I haven't put it in the dishwasher, but I don't cut meat on it. I just handwash it and rub it with olive oil when it occurs to me to do so. I don't want to eat mineral oil! Very useful size. Will buy a larger one sometime, too.

Have owned one for about 3 years and use it everyday (but no raw meat). I have never oiled it, simply handwash and let it dry. Apart from the knife marks (which is expected after years of use) this board is in excellent condition and I expect to use it for many more years to come.

Excellent board Aug. 5 2010

I must admit that, right out of the package, I feared I had made a mistake in getting this board. It had that weird new bamboo board/utensil smell and was covered with fine shards (for lack of a better term) of bamboo. I rubbed the surface with a scrubbie sponge, which quickly removed the bristly bits, gave it a good wash, and proceeded to use it. I'm very pleased I kept it. It washes up beautifully, and being able to put it into the dish machine means that 1) it can be sanitized and 2) it doesn't retain odors. I have no problem cutting fruit and vegetables and there is no transfer of taste or smell. I try to remember to rub it lightly with mineral oil maybe once a week (and I buy generic store-brand oil) but even when I haven't it still comes up trumps.

This board is likely to slip around on a counter, so placing something underneath might be necessary. I have mine butting up against bottles so it stays in place that way.

Thus far, this a most excellent cutting board, easy on my knives, with the added plus that it can be put in the dish machine.

Great board Dec 10 2009

Color: Brown
I've had this cutting board for about a year and a half now and I love it. It still looks beautiful, it's easy to clean, and it doesn't mess up my knives. I only put it in the dishwasher occasionally (if I use it to cut meat) as the dishwasher does dry it out a bit. Usually just a soapy dishcloth and a rinse and it's perfect.

Nice board but... Jan. 6 2009

This is a nice board for cutting, and it's the perfect size, but it has a few issues. I have Formica counter tops, and I could not use this board directly on the counter top without it sliding and spinning around. I solved this by putting a place mat under the board, and now it works pretty well.

The other main drawback is that it warps easily. Even though it is dishwasher safe, I hand wash it. I was oiling it about every third time I washed it, but that didn't seem to be enough. It warped so bad that it didn't even work on the place mat. So I started oiling it every time I wash it, and the shape came back, but, yeah I have to oil it every time. This means that I use it less than I'd like because of the maintenance...

Nice product, but incorrect dimensions in description. March 18 2010

This is a very beautiful, light yet sturdy, well-made board. However, the main reason I went ahead with the purchase, despite the annoying design feature of that hole (who hangs up cutting boards?), is because the dimensions are listed as 20.5" x 14.5". The product that arrived is only 19.5" x 13.5". That may not seem like a big deal, but I have limited counter space so need to use the cutting board on top of my sink, and it does not fit. It was bought as a replacement for a 20 x 14 board, natch. As lovely and eco-friendly as it is, for $40 I need those extra square inches and for it to be true to its advertising. I'm returning it for something larger, and unfortunately, probably bulkier and not bamboo. Sorry, Mother Earth.

Good product; easy to use Nov. 1 2008

I bought another, thicker and larger bamboo cutting board at the same time and I use it more, but this one is very handy to grab and take to my stove area to chop things quickly. It is lightweight, but not at all fragile. The bamboo is much better than regular cutting boards, and I love that they are a quickly renewable resource. The bamboo doesn't seem to soak up liquid the way regular cutting boards do, and it looks a lot better. I love chopping on these bamboo cutting boards. They don't get splits from my knives, and the surface is much more dense and less porous! Everyone who has seen them in my kitchen loves the way they look and asks where I got them. The only thing I would say about this, is pay attention to the measurements of this one, as it is definitely smaller than my other board.
