Toto may be past its prime as a multi-platinum recording band, but Live in Amsterdam offers abundant proof that their performances are as electrifying as ever. Recorded in Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall on February 17, 2003, near the end of Toto's 25th anniversary world tour, this dynamic concert serves as a cheerful reminder that Toto have been alive and well and recording steadily since 1978. The band's 2002 release Through the Looking Glass was an album of covers, two of which are welcomed here: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a prime showcase for guitarist Steve Lukather, and "Bodhisattva" is a tight, meticulous tribute to Toto's original drummer, the late Jeff Porcaro, and his classic sessions with Steely Dan. The mega-hits "Africa," "Rosanna," and "Hold the Line" are perfectly executed, and in a band full of talented singers, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball sounds better than ever. Two impressive medleys show the band in full gear as a comfortable unit of seasoned professionals, highlighted by impeccable work from keyboardist David Paich, bassist Mike Poracaro, and ace drummer Simon Phillips (who also produced and mixed this recording for DVD). And while 35 minutes of Porcaro's backstage home-video might seem frivolous, it shows a band that's still having fun, as reflected in the beaming smiles of their appreciative Amsterdam audience. --Jeff Shannon

5.0 out of 5 stars TOTO RULES !! July 15 2004
By The Critic TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
In this live concert DVD "Toto" looks and sounds better than ever. The picture is crystal clear and the 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound are incredible. Not only is Simon Phillips a great drummer, his mixing and producing skills are simply amazing. Bobby Kimball can still belt it out and Steve Lukather can still light it up on guitar. These guys can still rock and this live concert DVD proves it. The "Toto 25th Anniversary" Live In Amsterdam DVD is a definite must have for any "Toto" fan. My only complaint is that I wish they would have included (99) in the list of songs performed. Whether you're an old fan of "Toto" or just discovering them for the first time, you really can't go wrong with this concert DVD.

DVD Features Include:
-The latest performances of Toto's greatest hits captured in hi-definition video
-Featuring 5.1 & DTS surround sound
-Exclusive footage shot on the "Through the Looking Glass" tour

Song Track List:
1. Girl Goodbye, Goodbye Elenore, Child's Anthem, I'll Supply the Love
2. Gift with a Golden Gun
3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
4. Bodhisattva
5. Africa
6. David Paich - Solo
7. Dune/Don't Stop Me Now
8. Waiting for Your Love/Georgy Porgy/Lion/Hydra/English Eyes/Till the End (Medley)
9. I Won't Hold You Back
10. Rosanna
11. Afraid of Love
12. Hold the Line
13. Next to You
14. Home of the Brave
15. White Sister

3.0 out of 5 stars TOTO on DVD May 20 2004
Format:DVD
Good DVD, not great. Now I love TOTO but to be honest, the audio is weak. I have a couple of DVD concerts that the audio mix is poor resulting in a great concert playing not so great in the home. I play guitar and I like the instruments to stand out. If a guy is playing lead you need to hear it not have it part of the background music. I have a very good home theather setup so I know its not my system. I have around 30 concert DVD's and there are about 7 that lack good audio. Shame really that TOTO should be one of these. Otherwise they play all the tumes I love to hear. With good audio this would be as close to 5 as you can get.
Keep listening!
