It's peculiar, Feb 28 2010

This is a first rate biography and a magnificent film about a composer I care about. Perhaps it is the finest example of this type of film ever made. Years ago I loaned it to a friend who lost it but last week found it and returned it. As originally this DVD played well on my system I thought it was NTSC. It wasn't. It was just like the ones on sale here and it can be played on some DVD players, but not all. On my Blu-Ray it plays not at all; all though an NTSC copy I had made plays fine. On another DVD player it plays quite well but the copy I had made does not work. My friend said the original played on his computer. On the DVD player that I had years ago a copy I had purchased for fear that I would never see the one I loaned again played the black and white segments correctly but distorted the colored segments badly. So perhaps you have the DVD player that can play this DVD - perhaps not. If you do, it's an excellent film.

PAL, NOT NTSC, April 9 2010

Yes indeed, it is PAL, not NTSC. I own it and it says right on the box "PAL colour" (This is the 2004 release of this title) BEWARE, it has been re-released in 2008 under a different UPC & Catalog Number, but THE DISC IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THIS ONE. The 2008 issue is available from the UK, but it is PAL, even though the vendor has it listed as NTSC. I am trying to get a refund from the UK seller, but am getting the runaround from them, too. I have tried to get Amazon to change their listing to PAL, but the don't believe me. To sum up: DON'T BUY UNLESS YOU ARE EQUIPPED FOR PAL.
