Hard to say what goes wrong here. Any of these songs in radio rotation would be strong and intriguing, but as a package on the cd they just don't seem to add up. Everything is played and produced well, but nothing really transcends. The covers of standards, "Nature Boy," "My Romance," and "The Best Is Yet To Come" would be fine in a live set repertoire, but (except for a slightly intriguing stocatto delivery of that last) they bring nothing to merit inclusion here. Biali describes Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" as ubiqitous but includes it anyway -- a nice enough version in a world of many great recordings of this song. I probably like kd lang's "Simple" best on this cd, but I would just as soon hear it sung by kd. I think Biali is a tremendous talent, so maybe I was just expecting this cd to live up to the promise shown by her fantastic "From Sea To Sky." More careful song selection, with attention to cohesion and mood, would have created a better product.
