Like the middle novels in most series, much of Ties of Power is concerned with complicating the plot. More conspiracies are revealed, a villain from Jason's past is introduced, and several problems will carry over to the next book. But the real heart of Ties of Power lies in Sira's gradual transformation from a character who reacts to the plots of others to a powerful person who makes decisions that will determine not only her own fate, but that of the Clan as well. It's that story that makes Ties of Power a book worth reading all on its own. --Greg L. Johnson

Really liked it. I'm becoming a fan,

I loved this story. It's a little overly romantic, but the characters are a lot of fun. Very space opera, with twists and turns throughout. I found it hard to put down. Stayed up too late. Love the Drapsk.

Not Really,

This review is from: Trade Pact Universe #2 Ties Of Power (Mass Market Paperback)
A bit too 'cutesy' and the plotline seemed too obviously manipulated around the author's desired direction of the romance. I found it hard to sympathise with any of the characters as they were rather 2-dimensional and had no real depth or personality at all. I found myself getting a bit annoyed with the 'little quirks' that were introduced. A few mysteries and revelations kept things going however - I wouldn't have minded a bit more focus on that. I got book 3 at the same time as this one, but I don't think I can be bothered to read it.

Gag me!,

This review is from: Trade Pact Universe #2 Ties Of Power (Mass Market Paperback)
I was hoping for an explaination for the quasi-enjoyable Thousand Words, and this book did not offer anything. It was so poorly written (confusing, too hard to follow the randomness) that I could not even bring myself to finish it, especially after the hockey game. . . The characters have no qualities that make you want to have any compassion at all for them. Sira was weak and not a very likable person. Her fellow Clan members were deplorable as well. I easily tossed this book aside and have not had any regrets. While the author has some good ideas that may be worth working with, this book and Thousand Words were just too drab and drawn out.
