"A convenient keyboard dock, sleek design, and aggressively low price make the Eee Pad Transformer our favorite Wi-Fi-only Honeycomb tablet." – Laptop Magazine

"Of all of these new entrants, the Eee Pad Transformer impresses us most so far—and not just because of its low price tag. The 10-inch slate is lighter than competing Honeycomb tablets, features an IPS screen for wider viewing angles, and plugs into an optional keyboard dock that adds more battery life. It's this kind of combo that could prove a hit with the back-to-school crowd, as well as mobile professionals who want to take notes in meetings. Been using this pad for 4 days now and I'm loving it. Here are my thoughts regarding several aspect of the device.

    Things to note:
    1. Price: $400 is freaking amazing! I never bought an iPad or similar device because of the price. I almost did several times but I could never justify it due to the price. I wanted 64gb but there's no way I'm going to shell out 800+ for it. Companies pushing their entry level devices for $500 and up to $800+ for their higher level device are crazy. Yes, they will sell to folks who can afford it (or think they can afford it) but they are not the majority. There are so many of us riding the fence because justify spending that much money. At $400, the decision to buy is a lot easier.

    2. Display: The screen is amazingly clear and crisp. No eye strains whatsoever watching 720p movies. Lots of online reviewers stated that the display is fantastic and I completely agree with them.

    3. Horse Power: Playing 720p movies with no stutter or tearing. I haven't tried 1080p yet because I don't have a large enough micro SD card. My brother reported that he got bad stutters running 720p when he tested it but we attributed that to his slow micro SD card. I've also read some reviews online regarding stutters; however they were unclear on what media software being used or whether they were running the movies off the main memory, micro SD or streaming from their PC. I'm using RockPlayer and there is no trace of any stuttering.

Moving icons around or flipping screen is a bit slower than my brother's iPad. Nothing detrimental or annoying though considering the difference is only a fraction of a second. Since the Android desktop is way more complex than Apple's desktop of simple icons, I'm going to forgive Android for being a smidge slower.

I've had the Transformer for a few days and I'm really enjoying it. I put some music and some photos on it from my desktop computer. The photos look great and it's easy to resize them with your fingers, and to flip through them with a finger swipe, just like an Ipad. The music sounds good too, but obviously would be great with external powered speakers. The internet is fun to use on the device (it has flash - Ipad doesn't). I also put a 16 Gb micro sd card in to expand memory. I didn't get the keyboard in the mail yet, but I'll use that to expand memory with regular SD cards- (the Ipad can't). I can also use the regular USB connection when I get the keyboard dock - (the Ipad can't). I've replaced the wallpaper that came with the Eee pad, with a photo of a Humming bird I took out west. That was fun and it's a kick every time I boot up. It was fairly easy to install the new 3.1 version of Android Honeycomb right from ASUS website. I've also downloaded a few apps. I called the help line once and they were pretty good.
In short, this has to beat the other pads hands down. I have some friends who have Ipads, but My Eee Pad does everything their machine does just as well and it only costs $400. (Not to mention (again)that I can use SD cards, USB and it can use Flash on the Internet). When I get my keyboard dock (it has a built in battery), I'll be good for 16 hrs before recharging.
The downside, so far, is the puny manual, but playing with the machine teaches you just about everything. (BTW, if you use the YouTube App and want to go full screen, put your finger on the part of the screen thats playing, and you'll see the little 4 arrow icon to touch to get full screen.)
I'm checking out all the places near me that have wifi. Fun is fun!!

    Verified Purchase
I've had this tablet for almost a year now and I'm thrilled with it. It is easy to use, reliable and has every app I could ever want. The best part is that it allows you to use videos of all formats not just ones from Itunes. There may be newer models out there with HD screens which would be nice.

Considering the only difference between the Prime and the TF101 is a quad core and dual core, the specs are basically the same. This was an awesome buy. It works perfect, games run smoother as do apps. Depending how you hold the tablet it may hurt your fingers (pinky used to brace the bottom), edges can seem sharp but all in all it's a very good product. Some people have complained about the weight, the thing is so light I can't understand what the complaints are about.

The dock is crucial in my opinion, especially for the USB port and the extended battery life. My transformer has replaced my old laptop.

Do not buy anything from Asus. I purchased this a few months before the release of the TF201 and as soon as the newer version came out, Asus left the first version in the dust. So no more updates and no more fixes, even though there were some major issues with the battery that made it unusable.

Now we are stuck with an older version of android (ICS) which they will not update so we are left with a slow and useless tablet.

    Stay away!
