Grade 6 Up–
Fallen Star begins slowly and never really takes off. Much like the cartoon, this digest-sized comic includes themes seen frequently in sci-fi comics, such as deception and good vs. evil. The problem with the story is that the characters just dont have the mystery and depth of comic-book heroes, and the story doesnt have anything unique to say as a result of it. The black-and-white illustrations lack energy; they make the scenes look as dull as the story. Its been 20 years since Transformers were first introduced, and this book proves theyve aged poorly over time.
