Transformers: Generation 1 is a great book! March 5 2006

Transformers: Generation 1 volume 1 is a great book! This is the a new reprint of the classic Dreamwave Transformers mini- series known as "Prime Directive". This Transformers book is written by Chris Sarracini and the artwork superstar artist, Pat Lee! All the classic Generation 1 characters appear in this book, like Spike, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Jazz, Cliffjumper, Wheeljack, Superion, Devestator and etc., This book was originally published under Dreamwave Productions but the comic company had closed down in January 2005. Now, IDW Publishing has reprinted this book and is now back in print at the bookshelves! A+
From International Buyer: Great book, great speed, 4 stars because of scratched spine and curled edge Aug. 26 2013

Status: Very much satisfied

I have been looking for Generation One comics made by the long deceased DW company for years. Fortunately I found this one, and did not hesitate to order it be sent internationally to where I live. UPS delivered very fast, considering it was sent from the other side of this planet and survived my country's notorious custom clearance.

The book came in the same box with another two action figures I ordered Transformers Generations Voyager Class Autobot Springer Figureand Transformers Generations Voyager Class Blitzwing Figure. The box was pretty neat, no deformation or damage observed. The UPS staff who contact me about custom clearance and the delivery man were both quite polite, responsible and efficient. I would give UPS a 5+ star for such quality of service.

Inside the box was stuffed with Amazon's airbags to protect those goods. However despite such careful protection, the book came with slightly curled edge and a little torn on top of its spine. Not serious, but enough to make it different from other books I ordered from Amazon. As a Transformers fan I have bought quite a few graphic novels, paperback and hardcover, and have never got one with damage in its spine, or have the front page curled up. For this reason I give 4 stars to this book.

The content of this book was fabulous, as always would be. Greed and hatred, faith and love, three parties- human, Autobots and Decepticons intertwined together, and finally Autobot won. Not without sacrifices. I love how this Optimus mourned for the losses of his brothers, how hurt it was to see them perish; it just made those Cybertronians more humanized.

Great job IDW, and please print more of these books.

Story Trumps Art Jan. 25 2009
By Heather R. Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I'm a comic book art addict, and have to admit that the Dreamwave style is not my favorite. When I first read this book, I loved the story, but hated the art, so decided not to buy it. But after a while, I found I could not live without the great story. So I bought it, and have never regretted the purchase.

This is my favorite written version of Optimus Prime ever. He's just awesome in this book. There is some truly great exploration of why he does what he does, and is who he is.

Bottom Line: This is a great book. Buy it if you love Optimus Prime. Buy it if you love a good story. Buy it if you enjoy good writing.
(And the art really isn't all that bad!)

Done very well. It's fun to read knowing that this is the volume that rejunivated the Transformers franchise. I am glad to add it to my Transformers collection.
