Book Description

In Transforming Power, veteran activist Judy Rebick champions new ways of achieving political goals by emphasizing co-operation and consensus over confrontation and partisanship. Rebick argues that today's combination of environmental crisis, globalization, and rapid technological innovation is producing profound new ideas about social and political life, and that this groundswell is truly the vanguard of a global movement to change the way we live our lives, from the ground up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!, Feb 18 2010

Velcrow Ripper "Velcrow" (Toronto Island, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transforming Power (Paperback)
A powerful, inspiring treatise on a paradigm shift in social action that is taking place around the world. It offers new pathways to change making that are critically needed in this time of exponentially growing crisis, and is an exciting window into stories of hope and possibility. Filled with fresh insights, personal revelations, and far reaching, global investigations, this book is a must read. It's an engaging journey written by a veteran activist who has the breadth of experience that makes the premise of the book very credible. These are challenging times, and this is a timely book. We need new approaches, and this book delivers. Highly recommended, a great read, dynamic, and transformative. It just might change your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pathways to Change, Feb 26 2010
By Stephen Marshall - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Transforming Power (Paperback)
The modern political system known as democracy is in crisis. The rise of the internet as an social organizing tool has challenged established modes of reform developed during the Cold War era. But new millennial activists need more than a virtual, digital platform to build lasting change. Weaving her own personal narrative within that of the larger global pursuit for bottom-up social transformation, Judy Rebick has the goods. In turns funny, epic, and triumphant, Transforming Power is an authentic call to action from an author who has been on the front lines of this critical struggle. A must read for anyone who is serious about real-time activism.
