It Changed My Life,
By Mrs. P (Manitoba, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Traveling Light (Paperback)
This book changed my life - and the lives of the other 4 girls in my Bible Study group. We just couldn't believe how applicable each chapter was to our lives. We were often moved to tears, and had bursts of unstoppable laughter. What an incredible book. After reading the book, my husband and I experienced a miscarriage, and the first thing that I turned to was this book. It was so encouraging, and lines from the book kept popping into my head all of the time. Max Lucado is so blessed, and it's so wonderful to read how God is using him to reach others. A great book for anyone - Christian or not.

Enjoyed it very much,

This review is from: Traveling Light: Releasing the Burdens You Were Never Intended to Bear (Hardcover)
I enjoyed this book immensely. I will say it's not for everyone. The Book's message did hit me just right though, so it was good for me. Max has a very easy style and I've not found anything, so far, in his books that contradict what I have learned and read in my Biblical studies. What I find great about Max's books is the cross-over potential. If you are not a Christian, but looking for some guidelines or help, Max's books are just as insightful as other "self-help" books out there. Readers can take the anecdotes giving by Max and understand the core message. Not for everyone, but if your head is heavy and you shoulders are drooping... Give this book a shot.

Peace through the 23rd. Psalm,

This review is from: Traveling Light: Releasing the Burdens You Were Never Intended to Bear (Hardcover)
As a pastor, Max Lucado knows that people carry a lot of baggage with them. This baggage includes worry, guilt, arrogance, discontent, grief, fear, loneliness and shame. He knows that the antidote to these attitudes is found in the 23rd. Psalm. In each chapter, Lucado uses a phrase to illustrate how God rescues us from negative thinking and old attitudes which are a deterrant to a fulfilling life. He shows that relying on God and turning our problems over to Him, allows us to get on with the business of life in a much more positive and constructive way. Readers will see themselves in the chapters which describe the human "baggage" that we carry and will feel relief in the solutions that Max Lucado offers through faith in God. This is an uplifting and encouraging book.
