Product Description

From Amazon.com

A pet project of Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules codirectors Ron Clements and John Musker, Treasure Planet is an ambitious animation hybrid (traditional animation combined with elaborate CGI backgrounds). It was the subject of numerous in-studio battles, but Disney office politics and a poor public reception distracted from its many admirable qualities, not the least being its overall fidelity to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel Treasure Island. Curiously revamped as a sci-fi adventure with spacefaring galleons, flintlock ray guns, and extreme-sports attitude, it caters to an young audience for whom Stevenson's adventure is an unknown quantity, revving up the material with arcade-game excitements. It's entertaining, for what it is, and kids will surely enjoy it. Maybe next time, however, Disney will follow its own legacy and properly adapt Stevenson (as they did with their 1950 live-action classic) for a new, and hopefully receptive, generation. --Jeff Shannon

Chronique Amazon.fr

--Marc Maesen

Adventure of Treasure Planet July 3 2010
Format:DVD
Looking for exciting adventure with humour, then Treasure Planet is it. The unique idea of travelling in space in such a way pulls you into the story. The characters capture your heart, even the ones you don't expect to. Treasure Planet is worth adding to your library. It is an adventure for old and young alike.

Surprisingly Delightful May 17 2009
By Oasis
Format:DVD
I'm a fan of most Disney movies, but when previews for Treasure Planet first came out, I raised my eyebrows and decided that this one was a miss.

A friend got me to watch this this past year, and surprisiningly, I loved it.

At its surface, Treasure Planet is about a teenaged boy with a dream to find the famed treasure of a thousand worlds from an infamous pirate, Treasure Planet.
At its heart, Treasure Planet is about a boy who wants to become a man, but has no one to guide him. The guide turns out to be Silver, the cook on the ship with plans to mutiny and steal all the treasure for himself.

Treasure Planet appeals to both boys and girls as a lot of young boys can much more easily relate to a male hero, and the plot itself appeals to both. Boys understand the confusion in the transition from a boy to a man, and girls can appreciate the father son relationship that Jim and Silver form.

I won't spoil the ending, but it was very satisfying. :)

The characters were all very satisfying, especially Jimmy, who I felt had more development and depth as a character than most Disney protagonists.

A wonderful and unappreciated family film, this will delight all ages and both sexes, and is definitely NOT a miss in anyone's movie collection.
