Book Description

Oct 1 1990

A collection of jewel-like quilts gathered from Amish communities throughout North America and presented in their rich, colorful glory.

A rich collection of colorful quilts gathered from Amish communities. What reviewers say—

"A treasury indeed, this book has 179 excellent color photographs of quilts in patterns most favored by Amish women in Ohio, Indiana, and Lancaster and Mifflin Counties in Pennsylvania, before 1940." —American Quilter

"A chart showing distinctive features of Amish quilts, comparing the color, fabric, and quilting techniques of various communities, is included. Recommended." —Library Journal

"It's a book to return to often for inspiration and even meditation." —The Chattanooga Times

"All quilts in the book are shown in color, the quality of which is excellent. That extreme care was observed during photography is evident; even the most intricate quilting design can be clearly seen. A Treasury of Amish Quilts will be a most valuable addition to any quilter's bookshelf."—Creative Quilting

3.0 out of 5 stars A Treasury of Amish Quilts Jun 25 2000
Format:Paperback
This book is a treasure of Amish quilts. It is strictly a picture history of quilts, with a short introduction into the world of the Amish quiltmaker. I have this in my quilt library to sit and simply look at beautiful quilts. I would recommend it as a gift, which is how I received it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful quilts with history to go along. Feb 8 2013
By Linda Knott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Anyone who enjoys quilts, whether making them or just looking at them, will enjoy seeing the various designs in this book. It even tells a little history along with the photos. I'm anxious to get started on making at least one.

1.0 out of 5 stars due to packaging this product arrived folded April 27 2009
By Janet M. T. Glessner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
perhaps you could put your books into better packaging or at least put a piece of stiff cardboard in the package to prevent the book from moving in the packaging and folding--I realize it is an extra expense but it would at least assure that the books would arrive in better condition.
