Product Description

Book Description

Treat Your Own Knees is a handy, easy-to-use book written by a physical therapist who reviewed hundreds of scientific journal articles and studied their practical applications to find the most simple and effective do-it-yourself treatments for knee pain. It uses drawings and illustrations that clearly depict the correct way to perform the exercises, and the exact muscles responsible for knee pain. The reader will also gain knowledge of how to improve and maintain knee function by enhancing the four crucial abilities every knee must have: muscular; flexibility; responsiveness; and endurance. A chapter is devoted to each of these four abilities, showing what it's role is in maintaining movement and knee health, and why it is essential. The last chapter is a 'master plan' that pulls together all the concepts and exercises into a time-efficient exercise programme.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Knee Info, Feb 16 2004

This book is excellent. It is an easy read and full of useful information. I recently had knee surgery on "torn up" meniscus and found this book to be very helpful as a follow up to my therapy. I urge anyone who wants to "save their knees" to get this book. As the saying goes "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!"

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I was looking for, Nov 17 2008

While there was some good information, this book seemed more oriented to senior or sedentary individuals. If you are somewhat athletic, you may find more value from a book more specific to your activity (for example, The Runner's Repair Manual) or a training book that will address your whole routine to catch muscular imbalances - I have found great benefit for my knees and lower back by introducing core and stability exercises into my weight workouts.

3.0 out of 5 stars For those who know nothing, Nov 15 2010
This review is from: Treat Your Own Knees: Simple Exercises to Build Strength, Flexibility, Responsiveness and Endurance (Paperback)
Some good information, but I wanted something a little more in-depth. I would recommend this for people who want some basic exercises and knowledge surrounding knees. If you want something that targets specific tendons, or targeted support exercises you might find something better.
