Product Description

From the Publisher

This is the revised edition of this successful book by Dr. Walsh. In TREATING SINUS, MIGRAINE, AND CLUSTER HEADACHES, MY WAY, he describes the approach to treating allergic headaches that he developed over twenty-five years of allergy consultation. In it he focuses on the air quality problems that so frequently cause headaches. His companion book, THE FOOD ALLERGY BOOK, identifies the foods that he finds most frequently cause headaches and tells how to remove them from the diet. Reading both books will give headache sufferers a much better understanding of allergic headaches. They also will suggest many environmental and dietary changes that help reduce or eliminate this aggravating pain.

From the Author

I love to treat patients. I respect them highly, but I am often amazed at their limited knowledge about allergy. In my practice I find that this lack of knowledge especially hurts those who suffer from headaches. Although they may realize that allergy makes their skin itch, nose run and breath wheeze, they so often do not know that it also makes their heads hurt. It does; it is one of the most frequent causes of headaches. Because they did not know, they could not fight their allergies and they suffered years of pain needlessly.

Many health care professionals, including allergists, share this lack of knowledge. They do not believe that allergy causes headaches. Even when they recognize the allergy/headache correlation, they do not know how to treat their patients who suffered this pain. Their patients suffer great pain that changing the environment and diet could reduce or eliminate.

I regret this lack of effective treatment, especially because of the painful headaches I suffered before I learned to control them. To help, I decided that I would specialize in treating allergic headaches. For years I studied my patients' headaches, identifying the foods and environmental conditions that cause them. As my treatment became more and more successful, I learned to follow an effective program that helped relieve my headache-suffering patients. This program is the subject of Treating Sinus, Migraine, and Cluster Headaches, My Way.

As my treatment progressed, my patients repeatedly asked my to tell them where they could learn more about their headaches. After telling them for years that I was unaware of any book that could help them, I realized that they needed and deserved this help. This thought prompted me to write this book; my patients tell me that they find it a helpful resource and return to its pages often. I hope that it will similarly serve you.

If someone has reached the point of researching topics such as headaches, allergies, and migraines I'm assuming they have also had many vistits with various Doctors and Specialists. Many of the recommended "do's and don'ts' had caused me more problems. Both my E.N.T. and Allergist Specialists had agreeded that this guy had some extreme thoughts that basicly made me worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for migraine sufferers, Nov 21 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Treating Sinus, Migraine, and Cluster Headaches, My Way (Paperback)
This book is a must read for migraine sufferers. Since reading the book 8 months ago I have decreased the frequency and severity of my migraines dramatically. But, in order to accomplish this I've had to alter my environment (trying to eliminate all allergens) and start receiving allergy shots.

The book does a great job of explaining why your headaches could be caused by allergies. It explains how allergies affect your system, and what you can do to fight them. It is well written and very easy to understand. It also explains how it is possible for allergens to cause headaches without the appearance of classic allergic symptoms (runny noise, congestion, etc.).

I'm thankful for the relief it has brought me, and I would encourage anyone who has migraines to give this a read.
