5.0 out of 5 stars Trekkies Rock, plus The B-52's Fred Schneider, Oct 12 2004
By Andrew "The Big" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Trekkies 2 (W/6 Live Tracks) (Audio CD)
This is the soundtrack to the Paramount Pictures documentary sequel "Trekkies 2", an entertaining look at Star Trek fans worldwide. The soundtrack includes the theme song "Beam Me Up" by Fred Schneider of The B-52's, as well as original rock, metal, punk and folk music from Star Trek-inspired bands. It also includes some of the instrumental score composed for the movie, and a bunch of funny interview clips from both "Trekkies" and "Trekkies 2". The best Star Trek bands on the CD are definitely the rock band Warp 11, and the metal band Stovokor.

It's definitely not your average soundtrack - it's hella funny, the Star Trek bands are (for the most part) surprisingly good, plus it's something new from members of The B-52's. A definite must-buy for any sci-fi fan.

Check out the lyrics to the hilarious Warp 11 rock anthem "Everything I Do, I Do With William Shatner":

Everything I do, I do with William Shatner
Loosing all my hair while my belly's growing fat-ner
And when I drink too much
He holds my hair in his hands
And while I'm blowing chunks
He treats me like the captain

Oh, when we get together we boldly go
Talk about our favorite episodes
I don't want to go to work
Just want to hang with Captain Kirk
And if I had my way I'd make it so

4.0 out of 5 stars TREKKIES II & Sci Fi Rock Stars!, Oct 10 2004

I truly enjoyed this album, and not just for it's comedic value either. Some of the bands within were actually extreamly talented artists, such as WARP 11 and their rockin' punk/metal brand of music. Who knew Trekkies could actualy rock?!?! lol.. You must give this CD a spin Trekkie or not, it's definitely a must have for any true music lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVERYTHING I do, I do with William Shatner, Sep 1 2005
By Enrique Fernandez Roberts "Stray Dog and comm... - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Trekkies 2 (W/6 Live Tracks) (Audio CD)
Not every song on this album is a gem, not every song is even well recorded.

However, as far as I know, this is the first Trek fan themed music album and for that I have to give much love. Where else are you going to find music by a Klingon death metal band, huh?

The album features some filk songs, including Expendable guy and that better known convention tune about getting kicked out of Mars.

For those who loved the soundbites from the über fans, the soundtrack also features plenty of choice snippets, including Jarrod's famous "This is the worst time you could have called, go away!"

The biggest standout of this album for me has to be the band "Warp 11", a Star Trek tibute band from California. Their songs are silly, often perverse, and flow like the sort of stories gonzo trek fans might tell each other to keep amused. The Song Red Alert, for example, is all about the horrors of drinking too much Romulan Ale.

I bought this album for one of their better known rock songs "Everything I do, I do with William Shatner". Fans of the movie Free Enterprise will especially appreciate this tune about a fella who is OBSESSED with the original series.

OOOOH, and there is a track by one of the NO KILL I bands that totally rocks but was unfortunately recorded live with poor sound.

Let's face it, if you are even reading this review it's got to be because you like Trek, or hate Trek and think all us Trekkies to be a bunch of freaks. Either of you will love this album. SO GO OUT AND BUY IT HUMAN!
