From Amazon

Take a pound of apocalyptic suspense, add a dash of conspiracy, a little romance, and you've got a recipe for publishing success.

When authors Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins first imagined Left Behind, their goal was to create "...the first fictional portrayal of events that are true to the literal interpretation of Bible prophecy." Left Behind began as a sleeper, starting slowly and building steadily, selling by word of mouth. Eventually the book became a bestseller and LaHaye and Jenkins discovered that the story would take more than one book to tell, so they continued the tale in Tribulation Force.

Set against the backdrop of the Rapture, in which Jesus has returned as promised to gather his followers and remove them from this world, the characters in Tribulation Force must confront life without their loved ones, struggle with evil unleashed on the world, and ultimately embrace God's truth for themselves.

Pilot Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, journalist Buck Williams, and pastor Bruce Barnes band together to study the Bible, pray, and support one another through this time of terror and uncertainty. They realize that Nicolae Carpathia is the prophesied Antichrist, as they watch him consolidate his power. Buck and Rayford find themselves employees of Nicolae, keeping their faith in Jesus secret so that they can continue to work and share their faith unhindered while secretly fighting the Antichrist with the other members of the tribulation force.

The authors have drawn a story of intrigue and adventure set against a cataclysm of global proportions. Readers captivated by Left Behind will certainly want to read Tribulation Force.

Book Description

In one cataclysmic moment, millions around the globe disappear. Those left behind face war, famine, plagues, and natural disasters so devastating that only one in four people will survive. Odds are even worse for enemies of the Antichrist and his new world order. Rayford Steele, Buck Williams, Bruce Barnes, and Chloe Steele band together to form the Tribulation Force. Their task is clear, and their goal is nothing less than to stand and fight the enemies of God during the seven most chaotic years the planet will ever see.

5.0 out of 5 stars the series opened the door..., April 1 2011

I've been an avid reader since kindergarten and mysteries have engaged me from the Nancy Drew days. I came to faith late in life and often have difficulty sorting through the interpretation of Scripture. Like another reviewer, I banged through this whole series pretty quickly. I still own the books and can't part with them. Sure, it's fiction, but it instilled in me an INTEREST in eschatology which I may not have stumbled upon otherwise. In the ensuing six years I have energetically studied End Times and in particular, theological books on Heaven. Thank you Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins for bringing this exciting aspect of faith to my life.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoying the series, May 6 2010
This review is from: Tribulation Force: The Continuing Drama of Those Left Behind (Paperback)
I enjoy the series - the audiobooks are the best though, the ones produced by LaHaye & Jenkins - full cast, like listening to a radio program. Some of it is pretty evangelical and VERY literal...but good overall storyline.
